Status Summary Segments Under Construction (~31 mainline miles) Segment Recently Let (~4 mainline miles) Segment in Final Design (~1 mainline mile)

Preconstruction Challenges ROW acquisition due to high concentration of oil wells in segments E, F & G. Our records show a total of 95 out of 102 oils wells in these 3 segments with 57 in segment F alone. These wells needed to be evaluated for their reserve content, appraised, compensated for, plugged and abandoned.

Preconstruction Challenges The hard work of our Real Estate section, along with their consultants made these acquisition possible on time for authorization and bid letting. Future challenge will be dealing with high number of relocations during the acquisition of segment K. Utility Relocation for segment J was over $11M and segment K is anticipated to be high too.

Preconstruction Challenges The design of I-49 & I-220 Interchange that would not preclude future Inner-city connector (ICC) from I-220 to I-20. Presence of active landfill south of I-220 at southwest quadrant of I-49/I-220 intersection added to design challenges.

What Next? Segment K is the only remaining segment left to be let (currently in final design). Design on Segment K is planned to be completed by late It is likely some segments of I-49N could be open to traffic this summer.

What Next? If opened to traffic, a detour is needed to continue north until Arkansas joins their I-49 portion to Louisiana. With completion of the segments from Arkansas to I-220, continuous I-49 traffic will be via I-220 and La 3132 (Inner Loop Expressway). The Inner City Connector (ICC) from I-220 to I-20 is currently in environmental stage.

Completed I-49N/I-220 Interchange under current I-49 North project.

Future I-49/I-220 Interchange with proposed ICC project
