Information For rising ground moisture Removes moisture and salts from brickwork Easy to use No construction work Maintenance-free Ecologically meaningful Excellent method

Moisture problems: If brickwork has no or damaged horizontal waterproofing against ground moisture, its structure will be damaged severely by capillary rising moisture. Ugly humidity rings start to form. The unpleasant results damage to plaster and paint. Fig.1: Typical damage with rising moisture The ground moisture is absorbed by the capillaries depending on the density of the wall material and moved upwards against gravity. The rise depends on the thickness of the wall; it can be up to five meters in extreme cases in very old buildings. Internal and external walls are equally affected. 3 Brickwork dehumidification with AQUAMAT A simple to use electronic method was developed for brickwork dehumidification and a patent confirmed by the European patent office in Munich. This wireless technology is used in residential buildings, churches, chapels and industrial premises. AQUAMAT has proven its qualities as a permanent dehumidification method for capillary rising moisture in many buildings in Europe. Photograph on the left: Villa built in 1874 AQUAMAT wall drying technology effectively stops capillary rising damp. Plaster and paintwork last for many years on dry brickwork.

This is how AQUAMAT works The AQUAMAT wall drying system works fully electronic and wireless with frequencies in long-wave band on the basis of electro-osmosis. The effect is essentially made up of a movement effect of the water molecules in an electrical field. The effect of the electro-osmosis has been known to science since After applying electrical voltage to both ends of a water-filled tube, it can be observed that the liquid moved from the positive to the negative pole within des tube* (Fig.1). *In the brickwork, that is the capillary filled with moisture. Fig. 1 Movement of water from +pole to -pole in the capillaries AQUAMAT technology is using this movement effect. The effect of the electronic AQUAMAT technology pushes the rising moisture back into the ground. The wall is poled positively (+) electrically on the top to achieve a lowering of the moisture. Increased wall moisture subsequently sinks to the negative pole (-) back into the ground or evaporates in the upward movement through the wall surface into the room air. Moist brickwork dries off in a sparing manner. AQUAMAT removes moisture from brickwork Without the need for construction measures and protects its substance.

Possible applications of AQUAMAT The AQUAMAT wall drying system is suited for the removal of capillary rising moisture in brickwork made of natural stones, bricks, concrete or mixed brickwork. Time sequence of brickwork dehumidification: 1. phase: dehumidification AQUAMAT means a stop to capillary rising moisture and simultaneously stops the transport of salts. The rising of moisture in brickwork is prevented with the initial start-up. Ground moisture sinks into the soil or evaporates. Brickwork is dehumidified in a sparing manner: the external walls, the interior walls and the basement floor (foundation slab). 2. phase: maintenance The brickwork dries off with only residual moisture being left. As long as the AQUAMAT wall drying system is used, ground moisture can no longer rise up. AQUAMAT ensures permanent dryness of the brickwork with rising, creeping ground moisture.

Advantages of AQUAMAT Sparing method Fully electronic, no constructions works, no chemical substances. A healthy room climate results from drying the brickwork. The mouldy smell disappears after a short time already because of the decrease in masonry moisture. Lower heating costs with dry brickwork The heat insulation of dry building materials is substantially more efficient. Mildew dies off Mildew likes moisture and will die off without it. Maintenance-free AQUAMAT technology has been designed for wet rooms and does not require maintenance. Ecologically meaningful "The method of ecological scarcity results in clearly improved life cycle assessment with the electro-osmosis method as opposed to the mechanical process with a damp-proof course". Prior to the installation of the AQUAMAT wall drying system in the beginning of 2005, the measured data showed 11.9 weight%, in the middle of 2005 there were only 6.4 weight% left. That is a decrease in rising damp of 5.5 weight% within a few months. The homeowner is very happy.
