2 Playground Use Two types of outdoor activities. PE & Lunch Recess/after-school activities. Physical Education - uses the covered pavilions and the open playing fields Lunch Recess sand courts, hard courts, open play fields Lunch Recess - Teachers receive a thirty five minute duty free lunch. Students are dropped off at the cafeteria at the start of the thirty five minutes. Usually between fifteen and twenty minutes into the lunch period, the students are dismissed from their tables to go to the playground. Students are rarely outside for longer than 20 minutes during lunch recess. Younger children (k 2) generally prefer the sand courts and hard court. Older children prefer the open play fields and hard courts. Other activities Class reward or part of a lesson. Rare, less than 30 minutes in most cases.
