1 CITY OF TACOMA Department of Neighborhood and Community Services ADDENDUM NO. 3 DATE: January 31, 2017 REVISIONS TO: Request for Bids Specification No. NC F On-Call Building Demolition NOTICE TO ALL BIDDERS: This addendum is issued to clarify, revise, add to or delete from, the original specification documents for the above project. This addendum, as integrated with the original specification documents, shall form the specification documents. The noted revisions shall take precedence over previously issued specification documents and shall become part of this contract. REVISIONS TO THE SUBMITTAL DEADLINE: The submittal deadline remains the same. REVISIONS TO THE SPECIAL PROVISIONS: 1. Delete section.3 (2) 2. Add section.3 (2) marked Addendum 3 3. Add section.5 marked Addendum 3 REVISIONS TO THE PROPOSAL PAGES: All previous Bid Proposal Pages are deleted and replaced with the revised Bid Proposal Pages marked Addendum 3, as attached. Bidders shall submit the attached Bid Proposal Pages marked Addendum 3 with their bid submittal. Failure to do so may render your bid nonresponsive. REVISIONS TO THE SUBMITTAL PACKAGE: NOTE: Acknowledge receipt of this addendum by initialing the corresponding space as indicated on the signature page. Vendors who have already submitted their bid/proposal may contact the Purchasing Division at and request return of their bid/proposal for acknowledgment and re-submittal. Or, a letter acknowledging receipt of this addendum may be submitted in an envelope marked Request for Bids Specification No. NC F Addendum No. 3. 2 .3 (2) Excavations and/or Foundations/ Basements All excavations, fills or vertical walls two (2) feet or more in depth shall be protected by filling in such a manner that there is no fill or cut slope exceeding two (2) feet horizontal for every one (1) foot of vertical rise. Said fill shall be Common Borrow in accordance with the 2016 WSDOT Standard Specification, section (14)K, of an approved clean, non-contaminated source and compacted during placement to assure slope stability. Under no circumstances shall the finish grade of the lot be left with any depressions and the final grade must be sloped in such a manner to prevent surface drainage from ponding or draining onto adjacent property. The contractor shall remove and dispose of all the existing foundation and basements, including concrete slabs for the structure and basements walls with the structure demolition. All basement excavation and any unsafe depression at the property in the opinion of the City of Tacoma project representative will be backfilled with Common Borrow of an approved clean, non-contaminated source. The provided backfill shall bring the foundation to grade and compacted in such a manner that there is no fill or cut slope exceeding two (2) feet horizontal for every one (1) foot of vertical rise.

3 .4 Measurement The first paragraph is revised to read: NC F The demolition pertains to one story structure(s) including site grading and erosion control will be measured by total square foot of the total living space at and above ground level. The basement and the concrete slab are considered part of the structure(s) demolition. The demolition pertains to two stories structure(s) including site grading and erosion control will be measured by the addition of the total living space at the first floor plus the total living space at the second floor. The basement and the concrete slab are considered part of the structure(s) demolition. The demolition pertains to a wood/ brick commercial structure(s) including site grading and erosion control shall be measured by total square foot of the space occupied by the erected structure(s) at and above ground level. The basement and the concrete slab are considered part of the structure(s) demolition. The demolition pertains to a concrete commercial Structure(s) including site grading and erosion control will be measured by the addition of the total square foot of space of each level. The basement and the concrete slab are considered part of the structure(s) demolition. The demolition pertains to accessory structures, such as attached or detached garages, sheds, playhouse, carport, garden structures, greenhouses, boat houses, pool houses, shall be measured by the total square foot of the occupied space by the erected structure(s). Collection, Transportation and Disposal Costs (Dump Fees) as outlined in the specifications will be measured per Ton Asbestos Abatement, Underground or Above Ground Fuel Tank Removal and Disposal, and Septic Tank Decommissioning as outlined in the specification will be measured by force account as defined in Section Pavement Removal as outlined in the specifications will be measured by the square yard in place regardless of pavement type or thickness. The common barrow including haul for backfilling the basement and unsafe depression as outlined in the specification will be measured per Ton

4 .5 Payment Payment will be made for each of the following Bid Items that are included in the proposal: Demolition of one story structure(s) including base site grading and erosion control per square foot per square foot Demolition of two stories structure(s) including site grading and erosion control, per square foot per square foot Demolition of (wood, Brick) commercial structure(s) including site grading and erosion control, per square foot per square foot Demolition of (concrete) commercial structure(s) including site grading and erosion control, per square foot per square foot Demolition of accessory structure(s)/ Shed/detached garage/carport including site grading and erosion control, per square foot per square foot The payment of the demolition pertains to each of the above bid items shall include site grading, erosion control excavation, excavation/filling, cleanup, notification, permit(s), watering, material on site/control site, seeding, as-builts, materials, labor, tools, equipment and supplies necessary to complete the demolition as specified. Collection, Transportation & Disposal Costs per Ton Payment for Collection, Transportation & Disposal Costs shall be full pay for all permit(s), materials, labor, tools, equipment, fees, and supplies necessary to complete the collection, transportation and disposal. Payment for Asbestos Abatement, Underground or Above Ground Fuel Tank Removal and Disposal, and Septic Tank Decommissioning as outlined in the specification will be paid by force account as defined in Section Pavement Removal, per square yard Pavement Removal, per square yard shall be full pay for all permit(s), materials, labor, tools, equipment, fees, and supplies necessary to completely remove all pavements onsite, regardless of type or thickness, including disposal and grading/filling/seeding the remaining area to the meet the requirements of this specification. NC F On-Call Building Demolition The undersigned hereby certifies that he/she has examined the location and construction details of work as outlined on the Plans and Specifications and has read and thoroughly understands the Plans and Specifications and contract governing the work embraced in this improvement and the method by which payment will be made for said work, and hereby proposes to undertake and complete the work embraced in this improvement in accordance with said Plans, Specifications and contract and at the following schedule of rates and prices: The following bid schedule contains a list of work items and quantities that will be used for calculating a total amount in order to determine the low Bidder. The stated unit bid quantities below will specifically not be a part of the resultant contract documents and the actual Work quantities during the life of this on-call contract may vary substantially from the unit quantities assigned by the City for purposes of determining the basis of award. The Unit Prices, however, submitted by the Contractor as part of this bid proposal will become part of the Contract and will be used throughout the life of this project. The winning Bidder shall not be entitled to any adjustment in its unit prices as a result of any variation no matter how significant between actual unit quantities and those used for purposes of determining the basis of award. *The notations below the item numbers refer to the specification section where information may be found regarding each contract item. These notations are intended only as a guide and are not warranted to refer to all specification sections where information may be found. ITEM NO. Calculated percentages must be within the amounts allowed in Section (1) E, Table on Maximum Allowable Percent (By Weight) of Recycled Material, of the Standard Specifications. 7 Note: Use of recycled materials is highly encouraged within the limits shown above, but does not constitute a Bidder Preference, and will not affect the determination of award, unless two or more lowest responsive Bid totals are exactly equal, in which case proposed recycling percentages will be used as a tie-breaker, per the APWA GSP in Section of the Special Provisions. Regardless, the Bidder s stated proposed percentages will become a goal the Contractor should do its best to accomplish. Bidders will be required to report on recycled materials actually incorporated into the Project, in accordance with the APWA GSP in Section of the Special Provisions.
