SYNTHESIS.ORTHOS Synthos S.A. is one of the largest manufacturers of raw chemical materials in Poland. The company is the first European manufacturer of synthetic rubbers and the biggest European manufacturer of expandable polystyrene. Rapid expansion in recent years has turned the company into an enterprise that is competitive, safe and environmentally friendly. SYNTHOS S.A. ensures that buyers are always satisfied with the array of raw materials, semifinished products and chemical finished products available. At SYNTHOS S.A., we aim to provide an innovative, highquality array of products that comply with ecological and occupational safety standards, all while providing efficient and helpful customer service along the way. SYNTHOS S.A. grew out of the companies Firma Chemiczna Dwory S.A. and Kaucuk a.s. The current name SYNTHOS (introduced in 2007), derives from a fusion of two words of Greek origin: synthesis (join) and orthos (proper, right). The name replicates our mission to manufacture and supply clients with chemical products for further processing, contributing to the development of each client s business. The name also reflects the nature of the company s operation in chemical synthesis. SYNTHOS S.A. manages production sites in Poland, Czech Republic, Netherlands and France and representative offices in USA and Brazil. Synthos Group can see its further development in building an innovative organization that would have the advantage over its competitors thanks to its technology and knowhow. Our goal is to gain and to retain our position among innovation leaders in production of raw materials for tire manufacturing, thermal insulating materials, raw materials for construction chemical, plant protection products and care applications. We are searching for new technological solutions based on our own research projects as well as cooperating with Polish and foreign research centers, which has led to the completion of more than dozen projects within the past years. Success begins with fostering and environment of learning and innovation. With this in mind, new research and development center has been launched, which aims to develop new types of styrenebutadiene rubbers in anionic solution polymerization (SSBR), new energy efficient expandable polystyrenes (EPS) and other applications that allow our customers to introduce highend products.

NEW SSBR PRODUCTION PLANT In August 2015, Synthos S.A. completed the construction of a modern SSBR rubber production plant. This plant has the capacity to produce 90,000 tons of rubber annually. This new plant will provide opportunities to expand Synthos s S.A. s portfolio by introducing new types of styrenebutadiene rubbers in anionic solution polymerization (SSBR). SSBR is used to make modern tires with improved performance, which also help save fuel and provide better surface grip, thus decreasing braking distances. These characteristics significantly improve not only the safety of driving, but the comfort as well. Synthos utilizes its R&D Center for New Technologies, established in 2010, to continue to develop its research program in new generations of high quality SSBR and FSSBR rubbers.

new rubbers generation Fuel Efficiency WEAR RESISTANCE Solution Styrene Butadiene Rubber TRACTION Rubbers manufactured by the SYNTHOS group and sold under the KER, Kralex and Synteca brands are considered some of the best emulsion styrene butadiene (ESBR) and butadiene (BR) rubbers in the industry, with customers including major tire manufacturers. For the production of oil extended types of SSBR, we use plasticising oils with low polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbon content of types or heavy naphthenic oil. Dry types are used for the production of various technical rubber products. Another investment of the SYNTHOS Group is a new production plant in Oświęcim, Poland which adds solution polymerization based styrene butadiene rubber (SSBR) to the company s offerings, sold under the SYNTION brand. This technology also allows us to manufacture butadiene rubber with low cisstructure content and SSBR with semiblock structure, mainly for purposes other than tire production. All rubber is stabilized with a non antioxidant. Its main application are rubber compounds, filled with carbon black and/or silica, used for making treads of highperformance car tires. The production process of the new rubber is based on anionic copolymerization of butadiene and styrene in a hydrocarbon solvent, in the presence of a lithium catalyst. We manufacture rubbers with varying viscosity, bound styrene and vinyl structure content, oil extended and dry. Thanks to the optimized structure of the SYNTION rubbers and their low polydispersity, it is possible to manufacture tires with low rolling resistance and an increased grip on wet surfaces. In combination with the butadiene SYNTECA rubber, it is possible to achieve rubber compounds which ensure good wear resistance, low fuel consumption and increased traction on wet surfaces, which increases driving safety.

SYNTECA SYNTECA Neodymium / LiTHIUM Butadiene Rubber ( Nd / Li BR ) In 2011, the company started the production of Neodymium Butadiene Rubber (NdBR) in its production facilities in Czech Republic (Kralupy) and in 2015, together with the launch of the SSBR production unit, the company has extended its rubber portfolio by introducing Lithium Butadiene Rubber (LiBR). Synteca LP grade is used for plastic modification, mainly for production of highimpact polystyrene (HIPS). Neodymium and lithium butadiene rubbers are produced by a technology of polymerization in solution and are sold under the brand SYNTECA. Synteca NdBR rubbers, due low glass transition temperature and polydispersity are preferred for modern tires with low rolling resistance. The use of Synteca NdBR types of rubbers, result in good abrasion and excellent dynamics of the tire, in addition to reducing fuel consumption by significantly decreasing rolling resistance. The highperformance neodymium butadiene rubber is suitable for compounds used in the production of advanced car and truck tires, as well as various technical rubber articles. Due to its stabilization by non antioxidants, it is also suitable for the production of light or colored rubber articles. catalyst: neodymium mooney viscosity: 44 or 63 cis structure content: 97 catalyst: lithium mooney viscosity: Kralex Ker Emulsion StyreneButadiene Rubbers ( ESBR ) Styrenebutadiene rubbers are produced by a technology of cold emulsion copolymerization and coagulated by a system of acid and synthetic coagulant. Some grades are dry and some are modified by extender oils. Styrenebutadiene rubbers are stabilized by or non antioxidants and are produced under the brands KRALEX and KER. Styrenebutadiene rubbers are suitable for rubber compounds used in the production of car tires, conveyor belts, footwear, cables, hosepipes and various technical rubber articles. Non grades of rubber are suitable for compounds used in the production of floor coverings, bicycle tires, footwear, children s toys, cables, hosepipes and various rubber articles with light color shades.

HSR / NBR High Styrene Rubbers ( HSR ) High styrene rubbers and resins offered by SYNTHOS are sold under the brand KER. KER 1904 is a standard grade of highstyrene rubber. It is produced by mixing styrenebutadiene latex and high styrene resin in appropriate proportions. It is coagulated by a synthetic coagulant and is stabilized by a non antioxidant. KER 9000 / KER 9001 resin is obtained via emulsion copolymerization of styrene and butadiene and coagulated with the use of aluminium sulphate. It is stabilized with a non antioxidant. High styrene rubbers and resins are suitable for the production of floor finishes, cables, toys and microporous rubber for the footwear industry and hard rubber articles. Nitrile Butadiene Rubbers ( NBR ) Nitrile rubbers offered by SYNTHOS are also sold under the KER brand and are produced by Synthos plant located in Oświęcim, Poland. Nitrile (acrylonitrilebutadiene) rubbers are produced by a technology of cold emulsion copolymerization of butadiene and acrylonitrile, and coagulated by a system of acid and synthetic coagulant, stabilized by a non antioxidant. Nitrile rubbers are suitable for the production of technical articles resistant to oils and liquid fuels. They contain a non stabilizer and can be used for the production of goods in light colors. Nitrile rubbers KER do not contain any components excluding usage of KER for production of articles coming into contact with foodstuffs.
