9 Sustainability Recycled Content Recycled materials have been incorporated into our Hydrotech Hot Melt, as well as our bituminous membranes. Recyclable Product Many of our products can be recycled at end of life. Storm Water Management Blue Roofs - these roofs temporarily attenuate rainwater at roof level instead of within ground tanks. A huge benefit all round by providing full control of rainwater discharge from roof level. CO 2 Absorbing Bituminous membrane with a CO 2 absorbing mineral surface, like a green roof but without the weight or cost. Green Roof For aesthetic, environmental or recreational purposes, green roofs provide a multi-functional element to your building. Green roofs are also a good solution when a building needs to be sympathetic to the surrounding landscape. BS EN Third party accreditation of our environmental credentials. Page 9

10 Hovis Factory, Bradford The factory s previous waterproofing system had become severely compromised over time and needed replacing to extend its serviceable life after multiple patchwork repairs had failed. An overlay of the existing membrane was utilised using our dual-bitumen and durable Euroroof RapidR membrane. This is membrane is highly modified for specific use on large refurbishment projects. Hovis Group Engineering Operations Manager commented: We now have a high-quality waterproofing system protecting our iconic breadbaking factory in the heart of Bradford, where we produce our much-loved Hovis bread products. 11 St Clare s School, Derby St Clare s School in Derby required a roof refurbishment to tackle the existing problems with their current roofing system. The existing roof showed signs of general aging and did not include thermal insulation, also the out-dated fragile rooflights needed upgrading. St Clare s needed a flame-free solution that provided minimal disruption to learning hours but also provide a highly durable system that would provide long lasting results and improve the thermal efficiency of the building. A full 1,400m 2 warm roof solution was installed to vastly improve the overall U-value of the building along with new Alumasc over-sleeve rooflight units, replacing the old Georgian wire rooflights thus providing the school with a bright internal outlook. U-values were also improved further due to the rooflights multi-skin UPVC design. This roofing system consisted of Alumasc PIR Insulation, Euroroof Self Adhesive Preparation Layer and finally the Caltech UV Base Coat and Top Coat providing the ideal solution, tackling the various, complex detailing with this project. 12 Meadowhall Shopping Centre, Sheffield The landmark roof at Meadowhall Shopping Centre in Sheffield showcases Alumasc s innovative Euroroof Mono Flat Roof Membrane. The project presented a number of complex roof details which required a versatile waterproofing solution. 8,500m² of Euroroof Mono was installed, following its specification by real estate consultants Colliers International, who chose the system due to its flexibility and ease of installation. The system is fully warranted with a typical life expectancy in excess of 20 years. It has been tested rigorously against wind uplift in accordance with BS :1997 and offers high tensile strength and pliability, along with excellent resistance to puncture and UV degradation. Page 12

13 The Centre:MK, Milton Keynes Shopping Centre During the redevelopment of thecentre:mk shopping centre in Milton Keynes Alumasc supplied Derbigum Olivine, a pioneering new flat roofing system with unique environmental benefits. This is an ecological roofing solution that is sourced using natural elements. the Olivine membrane neutralises CO ² during rainfall as it reacts with the CO ² already present in the atmosphere, this neutralises an impressive 1,750kg of CO ² over the roof s lifetime therefore providing a positive impact towards climate change. Alumasc s registered contractor M&J Roofing installed over 1000m² of the Derbigum Olivine membrane. Page 13
