MONUMENT SIGN Quick & Easy Installs! We've refined our products to be as simple and easy to install as possible it only takes a maximum of 4 people to do. Don't have the time or the manpower? We offer an installation service too. This document follows one of our recent installs - a residential development entrance in Ormond Beach, FL. Sign Specifications! The sign featured in this document is a large entryway monument with sidewings and aluminum fence sections. It includes real tile and immitation stone, which was installed by one of our prefered stonework companies. What You'll Need! Pickup truck (or equivalent) Flat-bed trailer (or equivalent) Post hole digger Spade / shovel Rake Dust sheets (reccommended) Expanding foam adhesive Level Concrete Access to water supply Touch up paint (supplied with sign) Four people to install sign

SITE PREPARATION Level Ground & Unload Trailer! Post holes are dug and inspected prior to the arrival of the sign. Make sure that the position of the post holes is correct before digging. Use spades, shovels and rakes to level the ground where the sign will stand. This doesn't have to be perfect, just try to make sure there aren't any noticable high or low spots - small cavities beneath the sign can be filled once it's in place. Unload the trailer - use the dust sheets to lay the sign on, this will save cleaning time once the sign is completed.

MONUMENT SIGN Glue Pipe &! Lift Sign into Place Align the sign with the post holes in the ground before gluing pipe in place. Insert the galvanized steel pipe provided into the respective holes on the base of the sign (see above). We recommend two people applying expanding foam adhesive to either side of the pipe while one or two people insert the pipe. NB: For best coverage of adhesive, twist the pipe continually as you insert it into the hole. Push the pipe in as far as it will go. Lift sign into place and position, making sure the sign is level in all directions before adding cement.

MONUMENT SIGN Pouring Concrete &! Adding Side-Wings Open the concrete bags and pour directly into the post holes in small increments, adding water as you go. We recommend using a hose to add water instead of buckets as the pressure from the hose helps to mix the concrete. NB: You may need to dig a small channel at one side of the post hole for access, depending on the size and shape of the sign. Re-check the level of the sign and fill in excess dirt. Repeat these processes for the side-wing pieces. NB: Signs with built-in fence panels come with the fence brackets already attached.

COLUMN CAP Cap Centering & Layout Most of our faux stone or sand finished columns ship with the caps already installed, though larger caps may not due to shipping restrictions. For those that do not ship pre-assembled, use a tape measure to center each cap on its respective column and mark the underside with a felt pen. NB: Take care when marking the underside of the cap so as not to increase the amount of touch up paint required after installation. The caps are now ready to be glued into place.

COLUMN CAP Gluing the Caps Apply an expanding foam adhesive to the top of the column - we recommend the Dow brand ENERFOAM. Apply the adhesive liberally, ensuring good coverage for maximum contact. NB: Leave a 1-2" gap around the perimeter of the column to prevent adhesive squashing out. Carefully position the cap on top of the column and twist slightly as you push down. This will ensure the foam is compressed fully and distributed evenly, reducing its expansion. Raise the cap off the column to allow air to mix with the adhesive (see bottom left) and wait approximately seconds before sticking the cap in its final position. This will optimize the adhesive's curing process.

TOUCH-UP PAINT & STONE The Finishing Touches Our signs come ready-painted so all you need to do is drop them in the ground, but we know that accidents happen so we ship each sign with touch-up paint in case of any scuffs. If the design includes stone work, we employ sub-contractors from our list of trusted masons to apply a professional finish. Finally, we coordinate our install crews and stoneworkers to optimize their workflow, allowing us to transform an entryway from 'empty scrap of land' to 'striking residential community' in just 2 days*. *weather permitting.
