3 Pump Specifications Recommended Pump Specifications for Architects and Engineers Sump Pump Furnish and install where indicated on plans (Qty), Deming automatic motor driven vertical sump pump(s) Fig for GPM against a head of feet. Pump(s) shall be standard, all iron or all bronze fi tted, using cast casing, separate cast strainer, semi-open cast iron or bronze impeller and high carbon steel shaft. Type A Pump can be supported by cover, or Type B Pump rests on fl oor. Replaceable shaft guide bearings shall be contained in precision machined cast housings for column pipe sections not more than 5 feet apart. Screwed column shall be inch Standard Schedule 40 steel pipe. Cast iron motor support, mounted on heavy split C.I. support plate, shall align motor with column pipe and shafting. Shaft shall be supported by heavy, grease lubricated ball bearing mounted in a sealed, dust tight housing, separate from the motor and above the pump column pipe and cover plate. Shaft shall have vertical adjustment by means of adjusting nut and positive lock. Motor Each pump shall be connected by fl exible coupling to a vertical ball bearing, electric motor with fl anged end bell dowelled into motor support. The motor shall be wired for phase, cycle, volts. Motor load shall not exceed service factor of motor. Support Plate The pump assembly shall be fi tted with a cast iron support plate or sump cover 0 or 8 inches in diameter for mounting on a pit 8 or 4 inches in diameter by feet deep. Duplex pump sump cover shall be equipped with a manhole x 5 inches or larger with cover and with fl anged or (threaded) vent connection inch size. Automatic Control Float switch shall be mounted on motor support and shall be operated by a guided Stainless Steel fl oat. Switch shall be properly selected to control motor either directly or with starter, where so required. Duplex Pumps For Duplex pumps supply electric alternator and control which will alternate the normal operation of the two pumps, operate both pumps simultaneously, if required. 6 Industrial Sump Pumps TYPE "A" Fig SUMP PUMPS have been designed to fi ll the demand for a reliable, yet inexpensive unit, where a big industrial sump pump is larger than needed and a cellar drainer is too small. Flexible coupling connects motor shaft and pump shaft. Pump shaft is grounded and polished and is supported by a heavy duty ball thrust bearing enclosed in a dust and water tight housing above the support plate. Impeller is semi-open cast iron. Type A is furnished with a split coverplate, complete with discharge pipe extending through the plate. Type B can be easily converted to Type A by removing the base ring and adding the split coverplate and discharge piping. 0 or 8 inch cast iron split coverplate is made in halve and bolted together to fi t bell of an 8 or 4 inch sump. Motors furnished regularly for 5/0 volts, single phase or 0/460 volts, phase, 60 cycle, 750 RPM, as required. The fl oat switch, furnished as regular equipment, will automatically start and stop the unit. Overload relay is provided in drip proof single phase motors through only. Protection for other motors must be provided by magnetic across-the-line starter, furnished as optional equipment. Furnished for sump depths up to 0 feet only. Duplex assemblies include two standard Type A pumps with 40 inch diameter pit cover, manhole and single alternator fl oat control.
