All conditions, requirements, materials and workmanship are to be as described in the Contract Documents unless specifically stated otherwise. Bid Submittal: As set forth in discussion at the Pre-Bid Meeting, the Contractor shall submit it s Bid to the Architect, at the location listed above, prior to the Bid Date and Time stipulated above. This shall be an original Bid Form with original signatures, seal where applies, and with all information properly provided on the form. Since this form is to be original, it cannot be faxed or ed but must be delivered via regular mail or courier service. The attached Bid Modification form may be faxed or ed (see above) to the Architect s office prior to the time set forth above. Bid Modifications not received prior to that time will not be considered. It is the Contractors sole responsibility to verify that the original Bid Form and the Bid Modification Form have been delivered to, and received by the Architect s office prior to the appointed time. 2. The time limit for completion will be 240 calendar days 3. The apparent low bidder shall complete and submit its Sub-Contractors and Materials Suppliers List to the Architect at a meeting immediately following the Bid Opening. It is not required to be included with the Contractors Bid or Bid Modification Form. See Instructions to Bidders 6.A. ARCHITECTURAL 1. Add Specification Section Roll-Down Blinds. (Attached) 2. Remove from specification section (Enclosed Switches and Circuit Breakers) line item 2.1.B.5 Disconnects For Furnace Units And Unit Heaters: Provide manual starter with thermal overload relay. 2 Provide overload relay to match motor full load amps. Electrical contractor to supply single pole switch for furnace unit (fan unit) disconnects. 2. Confirm with mechanical contractor that all furnace units (fan units) and electric heaters are provided with internal thermal motor protection, and that the electric heaters are provided with internal local disconnection means. 3. Sheet E101 Do not provide or install the 5 outdoor light fixtures (F24) shown between horizontal lines 4 and 5 and vertical lines D and E on the drawing. Do not install the single pole switch, box or wiring shown next to the door. See plan notes 7 and 8 for additional details. Do provide boxes with covers for future lights and three way switches, and ½ conduit with pull strings between the boxes to complete circuits as indicated. Do not provide conduit to exterior lighting contactor or panel A as shown. Provide instead, a ½ inch conduit with pull string to panel B from the nearest light box. 4 SECTION ROLL-DOWN BLINDS PART 1 - GENERAL 1.1 SUMMARY A. Includes But Not Limited To: 1. Furnish and install interior window shade as described in Contract Documents. 1.2 REFERENCES A. Definitions: 1. Anti-Microbial: Capable of destroying or inhibiting the growth of disease-causing microorganisms. 2. Inherently Flame Resistant: Material that meets requirements set forth in NFPA 701. Inherently flame resistant fabric is woven from fibers that are non-combustible for life of material. 3. Shade Cloth: Knitted fabric designed with a weave designed to provide specified amount of shade. B. Reference Standards: 1. ASTM International: a. ASTM G21 09: Standard Practice for Determining Resistance of Synthetic Polymeric Materials to Fungi'. 2. National Fire Protection Association: a. NFPA , 'Methods of Fire Tests for Flame Propagation of Textiles and Films'. 1.3 SUBMITTALS A. Action Submittals: 1. Product Data: a. Styles, material descriptions, dimensions of components, profiles, features, and finishes. 2. Shop Drawings: a. Plans, elevations, sections, product details, installation details, operational clearances, and relationship to adjacent work. 3. Samples: a. One (1) set of shade cloth options and aluminum finish samples representing Manufacturer's full range of available colors. b. Shadecloth sample and aluminum finish sample as selected. Mark face of material to indicate interior faces. B. Informational Submittals: 1. Manufacturer Instructions: a. Storage and handling requirements and recommendations. b. Preparation instructions and recommendations. c. Mounting details and installation methods. 2. Qualification Statement: a. Installers: 1) Provide Qualification documentation if requested by Architect or Owner. C. Closeout Submittals: 1. Include following in Operations And Maintenance Manual specified in Section : a. 5 1) Operating and maintenance instructions. b. Warranty Documentation: 1) Final, executed copy of Warranty. c. Record Documentation: 1) Manufacturers documentation: a) Fabric Supplier's literature or cut sheets on fabric. b) Shade Manufacturer's literature or cut sheets. c) Color and style selection. 1.4 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Regulatory Agency Sustainability Approvals: 1. Material Characteristics: a. Material used shall be inherently flame retardant with a flame spread rating meeting code requirements when tested in accordance with NFPA Anti-Microbial Characteristics: a. 'No Growth' in accordance with ASTM G21 results for fungi ATCC9642, ATCC 9644, ATCC9645. B. Qualifications: 1. Installers: Requirements of Section applies, but not limited to following: a. Installer trained and certified by Manufacturer in installing specified products. b. Minimum three (3) satisfactorily completed installations of comparable quality, scope, similar size, and complexity in past two (2) years before bidding. c. Upon request, submit documentation. 1.5 WARRANTY A. Manufacturer Warranty: 1. Manufacturer s standard 5-year fabric warranty. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MANUFACTURED UNITS A. Manufacturer: 1. Type One Acceptable Products and Manufacturers: a. RB-500 by Hunter Douglas Contract, Poway, CA b. Equal meeting design criteria requirements as approved by Architect before bid. See Section B. Materials: 1. Design Criteria: a. R-24 Clutch by RollEase. 2. Fabric: a. Room darkening single-fabric shadecloth: 1) Design Criteria: a) Fiberglass with vinyl. b) Openness: 0 percent (blackout). c) Washable. d) 11 oz per sq yd (373 g per sq m). e) Meet Quality Assurance requirements in Part 1 of this specification for material characteristics. b. 6 3. Drive Chain: a. Design Criteria: 1) Chain: a) #10 qualified stainless steel chain. b) Chain rated to 90 lb (40.8 kg) minimum breaking strength. c) Nickel plate chain shall not be accepted because of rusting. 2) Chapel: a) Bottom of chain not lower than 48 inch (1 200 mm) above finish floor. 3) Cultural Hall. a) Bottom of chain not lower than 66 inches (1 675 mm) above finish floor. b. Provide 'Spring Assist' on shades that are greater than 10 lbs (4.5 kg) pulling weight. 4. Child Safe Tension Device: a. Type Two Acceptable Product: 1) Model VC by ZMC Window Covering Supplies. 2) Equal as approved by Architect before installation. See Section C. Fabrication: 1. Shade Bands: a. Description: 1) Construction of shade band includes fabric, hem weight, hem-pocket, shade roller tube, and attachment of shade band to roller tube. b. Hem Pockets and Hem Weights: 1) Design Criteria: a) Fabric hem pocket with RF-welded seams (including welded ends) and concealed hem weights. b) Hem weights shall be of appropriate size and weight for shade band. c) Hem weight shall be continuous inside sealed hem pocket. d) Hem pocket construction and hem weights shall be similar, for shades within one (1) room. c. Shade Band And Shade Roller Attachment: 1) Design Criteria: a) Shade Roller Tube: (1) Use extruded aluminum shade roller tube of diameter and wall thickness required to support shade fabric without excessive deflection. (2) Roller tubes less than 1.5 inch (38 mm) in diameter for manual shades are not acceptable. b) Provide for positive mechanical engagement with drive / brake mechanism. c) Provide for positive attachment of shade band to roller tube. d) Mounting spline shall not require use of adhesives, adhesive tapes, staples, and/or rivets. 2. Shades: a. Design Criteria: 1) Fabricate units to completely fill openings from head to sill and jamb-to-jamb, unless specifically indicated otherwise. 2) Shadecloth: a) Fabricate shadecloth to hang flat without buckling or distortion. b) Fabricate with heat-sealed trimmed edges to hang straight without curling or raveling. c) Fabricate unguided shadecloth to roll true and straight without shifting sideways more than 1/8 inch (3 mm) in either direction per 8 feet (2.45 m) of shade height due to warp distortion or weave design. d) Fabricate hem with bottom hem weights. 3) Provide battens in standard shades as required to assure proper tracking and uniform rolling of shadebands. a) Assure that width-to-height (W:H) ratios shall not exceed Manufacturer's standards or, in absence of such standards, shall be responsible for establishing appropriate standards to assure proper tracking and rolling of the shadecloth within specified standards. b) Battens shall be roll-formed stainless steel or tempered steel, as required. 7 4) Provide battens for railroaded shades when width-to-height (W:H) ratios meet or exceed Manufacturer's standards. a) In absence of Manufacturer's standards, be responsible for proper use and placement of battens to assure proper tracking and roll of shadebands. 5) Battens shall be roll formed of stainless steel or tempered steel and concave to match roller tube contour. 6) Batten Pockets: a) Batten pockets shall be self-colored fabric front and back RF welded into shadecloth. b) Provide self-color opaque liner front and back to eliminate any see through of batten pocket that shall not exceed 1-1/2 inches (38.1 mm) high and be totally opaque. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION A. Verification Of Conditions: 1. Do not begin installation until substrates have been properly prepared. 2. Notify Architect of unsatisfactory preparation in writing before proceeding. a. Do not install blinds over unsuitable conditions. 3. Commencement of Work by installer is considered acceptance of substrate. 3.2 INSTALLATION A. Install roller shades level, plumb, square, and true, and located so shade band is not closer than 2 inches (50 mm) to interior face of glass. B. Allow proper clearances for window operation hardware. 3.3 ADJUSTING A. Adjust and balance roller shades to operate smoothly, easily, safely, and free from binding or malfunction throughout operational range. 3.4 CLEANING A. Clean roller shade surfaces after installation. 3.5 CLOSE-OUT ACTIVITIES A. Training: 1. Installer shall train Owner's maintenance personnel to adjust, operate, and maintain roller shade systems.
