3 Metal roof panels with concealed attachment, [and supplemental framing members required for complete metal framing attachment system], and accessories necessary for a complete watertight installation. 1.3 DEFINITIONS Cradle to Cradle Certification The Cradle to Cradle Certification process, administered by McDonough Braungart Design Chemistry (MBDC), that evaluates materials and product ingredients and the complete formulation for human and environmental health impacts throughout its lifecycle as well as its potential for being truly recycled or safely composted. 1.4 PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS General Provide metal roof panel system meeting performance requirements as determined by application of specified tests by a qualified testing agency on manufacturer's standard assemblies Air Infiltration Maximum 0.03 cfm/sq. ft. (0.3 L/s per sq. m) per ASTM E 1680 at a staticair-pressure difference of 4 lbf/sq. ft. (191.5 Pa) Water Penetration No uncontrolled water penetration at a static pressure of 6.4 lbf/sq. ft(306.4 Pa) when tested per ASTM E Wind Uplift Resistance UL 580 wind uplift rating of UL Seismic Performance Comply with ASCE 7-05 Sections 9, "Earthquake Loads" Structural Performance Provide metal roof panel system capable of withstanding the effects of indicated loads and stresses within limits and under conditions indicated, per ASTM based on testing according to ASTM E 1592: FM APPROVALS Comply with FM Provide metal roof panel assembly listed in FM Approvals RoofNav. 4 Determine loads based on uniform pressure, importance factor, exposure category, and basic wind speed indicated on drawings Snow Loads As indicated on Drawings Deflection Limits Metal roof panel system shall withstand wind and snow loads with vertical deflections no greater than 1/180 of the span Concentrated Load Performance Provide metal roof panel system that withstand a concentrated load of 250 lbs (113 kg) applied to a 4 sq. in. (2580 sq. mm) at midspan and center of the panel halfway between supports without causing deformation, buckling or side lap separation Thermal Movement Allow for thermal movements from variations in both ambient and internal temperatures. Accommodate movement of support structure caused by thermal expansion and contraction. Thermal Cycle test: Provide metal roof panel system that show no wear when subject to 100,000 cycles of 1 inch movement in the plane of the panel face relative to the clip anchor Insulation Roof systems that incorporate foam plastic insulation must be tested by the foam plastic manufacturer in accordance with NFPA Energy Performance Solar Reflectance Index Minimum 78 for roof slopes of 2:12 or less and 29 for roof slopes greater than 2:12 per ASTM E Energy Star Qualified Listed on USDoE ENERGY STAR Roof Products Qualified Product List SUBMITTALS Government approval is required for submittals with a "G" designation; submittals not having a "G" designation are [for Contractor Quality Control approval.] [for information only. 5 Roof panels; coordination drawings Provide drawings of metal roof panel system coordinating the installation with structural framing secondary framing, roof deck, penetrations, openings, and mechanical attachments. Buy American Act Certification Submit documentation certifying that products comply with provisions of the Buy American Act 41 U.S.C 10a - 10d. SD-02 Shop Drawings Roof panels Show layouts of metal roof panels. Include details of each condition of installation, panel profiles, and attachment to building. Provide details at a minimum scale 1-1/2-inch per foot of edge conditions, joints, fastener and sealant placement, flashings, penetrations, and special details. Make distinctions between factory and field assembled work. Include data indicating compliance with performance requirements. Indicate points of supporting structure that must coordinate with standing seam metal roof system installation. Include structural data indicating compliance with performance requirements and requirements of local authorities having jurisdiction. Provide products by same manufacturer as manufacturer of products specified in Division [00] Section "[Insert Division number and Section name]" Manufacturer Qualifications Approved manufacturer listed in this Section with minimum 5 years experience in manufacture of similar products in successful use in similar applications. Flame spread index: 25 or less Smoke developed index: 450 or less Fire Resistance Ratings Provide metal roof panel system tested as part of a roof assembly listed in UL Fire Resistance Directory Buy American Act Certification Provide metal roof panels complying with Buy American Act. 1.7 ADMINISTRATIVE REQUIREMENTS Preinstallation Meeting Prior to erection of metal roof panel system, conduct preinstallation meeting at site attended by Owner, Architect, manufacturer's technical representative, inspection agency and related trade contractors. Coordinate building framing in relation to metal roof panel system. Coordinate openings and penetrations of metal roof panel system. Coordinate work of Division 07 Sections "Roof Specialties" and "Roof Accessories" and roof openings and penetrations and manufacturer's accessories with installation of metal roof panels. 1.8 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING Protect products of metal roof panel system during shipping, handling, and storage to prevent staining, denting, deterioration of components or other damage. Protect panels and trim bundles during shipping with water resistant paper. Protect painted surfaces with a strippable protective covering before shipping. Deliver, unload, store, and erect metal roof panel system and accessory items without misshaping panels or exposing panels to surface damage from weather or construction operations. Store in accordance with Manufacturer's written instruction. Provide wood collars for stacking and handling in the field. Page 8

Provide required fasteners, gaskets, closure strips, and sealants. Fabricate and install accessories in accordance with SMACNA 1793 Manual. Steel Roof Panel Systems: Comply with ASTM E 1514 Aluminum Roof Panels Systems: Comply with ASTM E 1637 and AA ADM1 "Specification for Aluminum Structures" Flashing and Trim: Match material, thickness, and finish of metal roof panels Panel Fasteners Self-tapping screws, bolts, nuts, and other acceptable fasteners recommended by metal roof panel system manufacturer. Where exposed fasteners cannot be avoided, supply corrosion-resistant fasteners with heads matching color of metal panels by means of factory-applied coating. Exposed Screws: Manufacturer's recommended stainless steel screws with bonded neoprene and stainless steel washers, coated to match panel color Concealed Screws: Manufacturer's recommended corrosion resistant carbon steel with corrosion resistant coating Panel Sealants: Side Lap Sealant: One part, non-skinning, non-drying, synthetic butyl elastomer sealant. Field Applied Unexposed Sealant: Side Laps, end laps, and flashing details: Gun grade, nonskinning, butyl elastomer or polymeric non-skinning butyl tape. 13 Surface-Mounted, Metal, Stop-Type Snow Guards: Stops designed for attachment using approved adhesive. 2.6 SECONDARY METAL FRAMING Miscellaneous Framing Components, General Cold-formed metallic-coated steel sheet, ASTM A 653/A 653M, G90 (Z180) Hat Channels: inch/16 ga. (1.34 mm) minimum PART 3 EXECUTION 3.1 EXAMINATION Examine metal roof panel system substrate with Installer present. Inspect for erection tolerances and other conditions that would adversely affect installation of metal roof panel system installation.. Do not install roof panels until panel substrate meets roof panel manufacturer's requirements. Inspect framing that will support metal roof panel system to determine if support components are installed as indicated on approved shop drawings. Confirm presence of acceptable framing members at recommended spacing to match installation requirements of metal roof panel system. Panel Support Tolerances: Install metal roof panels on substrate within tolerances acceptable to metal roof panel manufacturer: 1/4 inch (6 mm) in any 20 foot (6100 mm) in any direction 1/2 inch (13 mm) over any single roof plane 3.2 INSTALLATION General: Install metal roof panel system in accordance with approved shop drawings, installation manual, and manufacturer's instructions and recommendations. Install metal roof panels in orientation, sizes, and locations indicated. Install metal roof panels in one piece lengths from the ridge to eave unless otherwise indicated on approved shop drawings. Anchor panels and other components securely in place. Provide for thermal and structural movement. Attach panels to metal framing using recommended clips, screws, fasteners, sealants, and adhesives indicated on approved shop drawings. Fasten metal roof panels to supports with concealed clips at each joint at location, spacing, and with fasteners recommended by manufacturer. Install clips to supports with self-tapping fasteners approved by manufacturer. Provide weatherproof escutcheons for pipe and conduit penetrating roof. Dissimilar Materials: Where elements of metal wall panel system will come into contact with dissimilar materials, treat faces and edges in contact with dissimilar materials as recommended by manufacturer. 14 Joint Sealers: Install joint sealers where indicated and where required for weatherproof performance of metal roof panel assemblies. Prepare joints and apply sealants per requirements of Division 07 Section "Joint Sealants." 3.3 ACCESSORY INSTALLATION General: Install metal roof panel accessories with positive anchorage to building and weather tight mounting and provide for thermal expansion. Coordinate installation with flashings and other components. Install related flashings and sheet metal trim per requirements of Division 07 Section "Sheet Metal Flashing and Trim." Install components required for a complete metal roof panel assembly, including trim, copings, flashings, sealants, gaskets, fillers, closure strips, and similar items. Comply with performance requirements, requirements of authorities having jurisdiction, and manufacturer's written installation instructions. Provide concealed fasteners except where noted on approved shop drawings. Set units true to line and level as indicated. Install work with laps, joints, and seams that will be permanently watertight and weather resistant. 3.4 FIELD QUALITY CONTROL Manufacturer's Field Inspection Reports: Engage a service representative authorized by metal wall panel manufacturer to inspect completed installation. Submit written report. Correct deficiencies noted in report. 3.5 CLEANING AND PROTECTION Remove temporary protective films when directed by Architect. Clean finished surfaces as recommended by metal roof panel manufacturer. Replace damaged panels and accessories that cannot be repaired to the satisfaction of the Architect. -- End of Section -- Page 14
