3 Construction Craft Apprenticeship Training Looking Ahead to the &2016 Construction Season? Construction Craft Training The ABC Northern Ohio Chapter s Construction Craft Training Program is a nationally recognized program of study in 17 different construction trades. Based on the National Center for Construction Education and Research (NCCER) curriculum, the program is open to anyone interested in developing their construction knowledge and skills, and who meet the minimum enrollment requirements. About Apprenticeship Apprentices are individuals sponsored by and working for an employer. They are required to work full-time in their trade throughout the year. They attend Construction Craft Training classes for a minimum of 144 hours per year. Attendance is mandatory. When a Registered Apprentice completes 576 hours (4 years) of classroom training and 8,000 hours of on-the job training (2,000 hours per year, 40 hours per week), they will receive a Journeyperson Certificate of Completion from the Ohio State Apprenticeship Council (OSAC) and the Department of Labor. ABC can coordinate registration of your apprentices. Contact ABC for more details and a registration packet. ABC Member Companies Take Advantage of Tuition Savings By joining ABC, contractors, suppliers and service firms receive discounts on student enrollment in the ABC Construction Craft Training/Apprenticeship Program of $600 per student. In addition, ABC members do not pay the apprenticeship registration fee, realizing an additional savings of $600 per registered apprentice. Together, ABC members receive $1,200 savings per registered apprentice enrolled in the ABC Construction Craft Training Program. Oftentimes, this savings alone covers the cost of membership dues. Training Options ABC offers online learning for many trades. Online students complete the classroom portion of their training online, and meet periodically with an instructor(s) to complete written and performance testing.
