6 Pt.7 Ch.1 CHANGES HISTORIC Page 6 CHANGES HISTORIC Note that historic changes older than the editions shown below have not been included. Older historic changes (if any) may be retrieved through January 2015 edition Main changes January 2015, entering into force 1 July 2015 Sec.1 General requirements In Sec.1 [1.1] Table 1: definition of substantial corrosion - reference to CSR rules has been updated. November 2014 edition This edition of Pt.7 Ch.1 is the result of harmonisation of survey requirements for fleet in service after forming the new company DNV GL following the merger of DNV and GL. Main changes November 2014, entering into force 2 November 2014 The structure of this chapter has been converted to decimal numbering. Older references to this chapter may normally be interpreted by analogy to this example: Pt.7 Ch.1 Sec.6 D204 is now Pt.7 Ch.1 Sec.6 [4.2.4]. As a result of this renumbering, previous Sec.6 and Sec.7 have now been merged into Sec.6. Thus, references from other rule chapters to Sec.7 must now be read as a reference to Sec.6 in this edition, shown in the example below. Pt.7 Ch.1 Sec.7 A is now Pt.7 Ch.1 Sec.6 [27] Pt.7 Ch.1 Sec.7 B is now Pt.7 Ch.1 Sec.6 [28]. Sec.1 General requirements Annual survey of single unit main boiler starts 10 years after commissioning, instead of 8 years. Less frequent surveys of thermal oil heater for legacy DNV ships. Increased scope of involvement during coating jobs preparation and execution. Relaxed requirement concerning maintenance system for non-convention vessels. Additional requirements to fulfil coating technical file. Increased scope of involvement during ballast tanks coating jobs preparation and execution introduced. Sec.2 Annual surveys extent - main class Reduced requirement for documentation for legacy DNV fleet concerning alarms and safety functions. Spool pieces to be surveyed during annual survey of gas carriers. Sec.3 Intermediate surveys extent main class New requirement regarding elastic mountings of deck houses added. Sec.4 Renewal surveys extent - main class Increased scope regarding measuring of anchor chain for legacy DNV customers. Possibility of weighting of anchors introduced. Main and auxiliary systems alternative survey methods introduced. More flexible approach to generator load test. Minor change in requirements regarding steam pipes temperature limit. Mandatory thickness measurements of air pipes and ventilators removed. Pressure / vacuum valves to be overhauled and adjusted - requirement added. New survey requirement regarding protection devices of electric motors in gas dangerous areas. Scope of ultrasonic thickness measurement (UTM) for extended hull survey requirements (EHSR) ships increased. Scope of non-destructive testing (NDT) of steel with yield strength 460 MPa reduced for ships other than container carriers. New requirement regarding elastic mountings of deck houses added. New requirement regarding survey of equipment for use of gases evaporated from liquefied natural gas (LNG) cargo as fuel.

7 Pt.7 Ch.1 CHANGES HISTORIC Page 7 Sec.5 Miscellaneous main class surveys Reduced scope of the rudder inspection plates survey during bottom survey. Alternative methods of ascertaining tailshaft clearance allowed in bottom survey. Acceptance criteria of the oil contamination of gear thrusters adjusted to makers requirements. Extended interval between bottom surveys in dry-dock have been added. Owner to have an overview of makers acceptance criteria for wear particles and water content. Propeller shaft reduced scope survey as previously defined in legacy DNV no longer available. Partial propeller shaft survey introduced. Aligning of tail shaft surveys with a bottom survey in the dock. Sec.6 Optional class notation surveys Previous Sec.7 has been merged with Sec.6. Previous Sec.8 and 9 renumbered accordingly. For firefighting installations and equipment legacy DNV scheme changed from complete survey (2.5 years) to annual and renewal survey. This means increased scope at annual survey (legacy DNV) and complete survey changed from 2.5 to 5-yearly for legacy DNV. Scope of internal inspection of pressure vessels in reefer systems slightly increased for legacy DNV. Requirement for mandatory maintenance plan for ships with unmanned machinery space removed. Possibly slight increase of scope of survey of ballast water management (BWM), including documentation. BWM - Additional conditions for checks of ballast water electrolysis introduced.
