4 5. Wire shall be Type SIS. 6. Ring tongue terminals. 7. Wire markers. 8. Motor circuit protectors shall be 240 volts, 3 pole. They shall be lockable in the open position. C. MCC Enclosures: 1. Enclosures shall be indoor NEMA 1, gasketed, front access for mounting against a wall. 2. Seismic bracing. 3. Enclosures shall be formed from manufacturer s standard gage sheet steel. 4. Finish shall be the manufacturer s standard coating system as approved. 5. General: The enclosures for the MCC shall be rigid, selfsupporting, sheet steel enclosed, steel framed, dead front type, with hinged panels. The size of MCC cubicles shall not exceed the dimensions shown unless otherwise approved. The MCC line-up shall be located as shown in a room without access to the rear of the MCC cubicles. The MCC assembly shall be provided with a separate removable steel floor channel frame or other approved method designed for bolting the MCC to the floor. The MCC shall be bolted to the floor only and not to a wall. The Contractor shall design the MCC enclosure and anchoring system to meet seismic requirements in Paragraph 1.05 D. The Contractor shall provide necessary hardware to anchor switchgear and the frame. Ends of the channel frames and other openings shall be covered. 6. Sections: The MCC area in the existing Control Building shall accommodate the MCC as shown. However, the sections of MCC and supportive channel frame shall be designed and fabricated to be separable as necessary for transportation and installation purposes, and shall be bolted together to form one continuous unit. Terminal blocks required for reconnecting wires across the shipping splits shall be provided. Each removable switchgear section shall have removable lifting devices and shall be capable of being lifted by a crane. 7. The MCC shall be designed to replace the existing MCC as shown. The cubicle alignment with existing conduit locations is critical. Any N-10

5 deviation from this layout is subject to the Engineer s approval. The Contractor shall submit adequate information to the Engineer regarding any deviations. Terminal blocks required for reconnecting wires across the shipping splits shall be provided. Each removable MCC section shall have removable lifting devices and shall be capable of being lifted by a crane. The MCC shall also be capable of being lifted by a forklift or being jacked and pulled into position in the pump station. 8. Horizontal wireways shall be provided for the entire length of the switchgear. Vertical wireways shall be provided for each switchgear cubicle.
