1 ADDENDUM No. 2 July 6, 2012 WWTP IMPROVEMENTS SLUDGE HANDLING UPGRADES Village of Dexter The following changes, additions, and/or clarifications to the Contract Documents shall be incorporated in said documents and shall be allowed for in the base lump sum bid by the Contractor such that the lump sum price in the Bid Form shall represent the conditions as set forth in the Contract Documents and this addendum. The bidder shall acknowledge the receipt of this addendum on the BID FORM, Section , Page 1, of the Bid Form issued as part of Addendum No. 1. Refer to for addendum, bid tab and plan holders list information. The Bidder shall also return, via facsimile, the acknowledgment sheet located on page 3 of this addendum. Addendum No. 2 contains 6 pages. Attachment No. 1 consisting of 7 pages (Davis-Bacon Wage Rates MI120100, dated July 6, 2012) Total Number of pages: 13 pages ADDITIONS AND CHANGES TO ADDENDUM NO Section INSTRUCTIONS TO BIDDERS, page 9. Remove and replace Article 30 PERMITS, item b) Soil Erosion & Sedimentation Control Permit with the following: b) Soil Erosion & Sedimentation Control (SESC) Permit Permitting Agency: Washtenaw County Initial Application Fee: By Village Individual Responsible for Acquiring the Permit: CONTRACTOR CONTRACTOR shall be responsible for payment of bond, surety and/or escrow payments that may be required by County to procure SESC permit ADDITIONS AND CHANGES TO THE BIDDING REQUIREMENTS 2. REQUIRED STANDARD CONTRACT LANGUAGE: CLEAN WATER STATE REVOLVING FUND AND DRINKING WATER REVOLVING FUND. This section follows Section STATEMENT OF QUALIFICATIONS. 2 ADDITIONS AND CHANGES TO THE TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS 3. Section FLOW MEASUREMENT DEVICES, Revise paragraph 2.2.A. to read the following: Magnetic flowmeters shall be flanged as shown on the plan drawings. Meters shall have a PTFE Teflon liner. Meter body shall be Schedule stainless steel or Schedule 40 steel with 150 lb. ANSI flange. Electrodes and grounding rings shall be 316SS. 4. Section FIXED DIGESTER COVER. Modify the following: Paragraph 2.2.A.4. Change 4500 to Paragraph 2.2.D. Delete the second to last sentence and replace with The cover plates shall be welded both exterior and interior to the erection beams to form a continuously sealed domed structure. Paragraph 2.2.E. Delete the third sentence and replace with The cover plates shall be welded continuously both on the exterior and the interior of the cover to the erection members. Paragraph 2.3.E.3 Change One (1) to Two (2). Paragraph 2.5.A. Delete the second sentence that starts with The cover plate.. Page 6, FIXED DIGESTER COVER EQUIPMENT SCHEDULE. Under Skirt Length, change 3 feet to 4 feet. 5. Section COMBINATION FLOATING COVER GASHOLDER. Modify the following: Paragraph 1.1.B. Delete this paragraph and replace with the following: Each Combination Floating Cover Gasholder shall comprise a complete assembly consisting of skirt plates, roof plates and supports, gas dome, top and bottom roller assemblies, columns, man ways with covers, sampling wells with covers, drain sumps, access wells, ballast beam supports and all necessary anchorage parts. Covers may be either radial beam or truss. Paragraph 2.2.A.4. Change 4500 to Paragraph 2.2.D. 3 Page 7, FLOATING DIGESTER COVER EQUIPMENT SCHEDULE. Modify the following: Under Type, change Floating to Radial Beam or Truss. Under Accessories, Delete One (1) 24-inch attic access hatch. Remarks, Add the following: Ceiling plates are not required on cover, either radial beam or truss. ADDITIONS AND CHANGES TO THE DRAWINGS 6. Sheet C2 - PROPOSED SITE PLAN (Issued as part of Addendum No. 1). Modify as follows: At the Primary Clarifier Scum Pit. Delete note GV47, 48, 49. At the Primary Clarifier Scum Pit. Add plug valve PV50 on the 4-inch discharge from the scum pump. On HMA PAVEMENT MILLING DETAIL. Revise note to read Cold Mill existing pavement per 2012 MDOT STANDARD SPECIFICATIONS FOR CONSTRUCTION Section 501, 1.5 deep. 7. Sheet P1 PIPING LEGEND. Add the following Process General Notes: PROCESS GENERAL NOTES: 1. CONTRACTOR SHALL FURNISH TWO (2) ADDITIONAL GEOTUBE BAGS OF THE SAME SIZE AND MANUFACTURER AS THE VILLAGE CURRENTLY HAS INSTALLED. 2. CONTRACTOR WILL FURNISH AND INSTALL ONE OF THE GEOTUBE BAGS IN SLUDGE DRYING BED COMPARTMENT NO. 3, ALONG WITH PIPING AND VALVE CONNECTIONS TO THE SLUDGE FEED LINE. WHEN EITHER GEOTUBE BAG IS FULL IT WILL BE REMOVED AND REPLACED AT THE DISCRETION OF THE VILLAGE. 3. CONTRACTOR SHALL INCLUDE IN BASE BID THE COST TO DISPOSE OF THE TWO GEOTUBE BAG CONTENTS USED DURING THE TEMPORARY SLUDGE PUMPING DURING CONSTRUCTION. 4. TANKS THAT ARE PART OF THE PROPOSED WORK SHALL BE DRAINED BY OWNER. PROVIDE A MINIMUM OF TWO (2) WEEKS NOTICE FOR THE VILLAGE TO SCHEDULE THE WORK. TANK INTERIORS WILL NOT BE CLEANED BY OWNER. CONTRACTOR SHOULD PLAN ON PRESSURE WASHING THE TANKS AND SUMPS PRIOR TO COMMENCING WORK AND OWNER WILL ACCOMMODATE THE WASH WATER FROM THE CLEANING. 8. Sheet P2 EXISTING AND PROPOSED PROCESS FLOW DIAGRAMS. Modify as follows: At the Primary Clarifier Scum Pit. Add plug valve PV50 on the 4-inch discharge from the scum pump. 4 9. Sheet P4 PRIMARY SLUDGE PIT PLAN & SECTIONS, PROPOSED PIPING PLAN. Add the following note: NOTES: 1. VALVE AND PUMP INSTALLATION WILL REQUIRE MODIFICATION OF THE EXISTING FRP GRATING. REPLACE ALL OF THE FRP GRATING AT THE SLUDGE PIT. FRP PRODUCTS USED ON THE PROJECT SHALL MEET THE FOLLOWING SPECIFICATIONS: MANUFACTURERS FOR FRP STAIRS TREADS, AND GRATINGS: CHEMGRATE CORP. FIBERGRATE CORP. FOWLER FIBERGLASS GRATING, INC. IKG INDUSTRIES IMCO REIINFORCED PLASTICS, INC. INTERNATIONAL GRATING, INC. FRP FABRICATED MATERIALS SHALL BE FREE OF PITTING, SEAM MARKS, ROLLER MARKS, ROLLED TRADE NAMES, ROUGHNESS, AND EXCESSIVE VARIATIONS IN FLATNESS. FRP RESIN SHALL BE CORROSION-RESISTANT PULTRUDED TYPE PREMIUM GRADE ISOPHTHALIC POLYESTER OR VINYLESTER. VINYLESTER SHALL BE USED IN ALL AREAS WHERE FRP MAY COME IN CONTACT WITH THE FOLLOWING CHEMICALS: SODIUM HYDROXIDE (NaOH, CAUSTIC), AND SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE. SHOP DRAWINGS SHALL INDICATE RESIN TYPE AND LOCATION. GLASS FIBER GRATING FRAMES SHALL BE FABRICATED FROM 1-3/4-INCH BY 1-1/2-INCH BY ¼-INCH PULTRUDED STRUCTURAL ANGLES. NO METALLIC FASTENERS SHALL BE USED. GLASS FIBER GRATINGS SHALL BE STANDARD 1-1/2-INCH BY 1-1/2-INCH SQUARE MESH TYPE WITH 1-1/2-INCH DEEP BY ¼-INCH (NOMINIAL) BARS MANUFACTURED OF CONTINUOUS GLASS FIBERS COMPLETLY WETTED WITH POLYESTER RESIN, COLOR TO MATCH EXISTING GRATING IF EXISTING GRATING IS REUSED. GRATING SHALL WEIGH A MINIMUM OF 3.5 POUNDS PER SQUARE FOOT. GRATING SHALL HAVE A MAXIMUM UNSUPPORTED SPAN NOT TO EXCEED 36 INCHES, OR AS SPECIFIED IN MANUFACTURER S LOAD TABLE DESCRIPTIONS. 10. Sheet P15 SCHEDULES.
