1 TM CUTTING COMPOUND Product Description Power Refinement Cutting Compound is a two component, neutral ph cutting compound. When mixed, part A and B components react to produce a material that enables rapid stock removal of concrete. The resulting scratch pattern is virtually nonexistent allowing for rapid recovery to a polished state. 2 Directions for Use Power Refinement is a process requiring the use of three separate products: Cutting Compound, Hardener, and Sealer. The products must be used together to attain the desired results. Power Refinement Cutting Compound is designed for use during the initial grinding/cutting stage of concrete refinement. Application: 1) Mix A and B compounds: mix ratio 4 parts A with 1 part B. There is no need to jiffy mix this material. Do Not Reduce. 2) Soak the floor to be ground with water. Apply enough water to saturate the concrete. Allow water to soak into the slab. There should be no standing water on the surface. 3) Wet the floor with the Grind and Polish. Keep wet for 30 minutes. Before beginning to grind allow the surface to dry to the touch. 4) Start grinding with the appropriate abrasive. For heavy aggregate exposure begin with a trapezoid style tool, 16, or 25. For light aggregate exposure start with a 120 or 220 grit beveled metal diamonds. (Straight edge tools will leave scratches in the floor). Grind the floor while it is wet with the cutting compound. Add enough water to the surface to build slurry. The slurry should have the consistency of heavy shaving cream. If the slurry is too loose add more Grind and Polish, if the slurry is too tight add more water. 5) Pull the mud off of the surface 6) Keep wet with water. 7) Continue cutting until you have the aggregate exposure you desire. There is no drag on the slurry when it is moved with a squeegee or the compound runs clear. This will take at least two to four slow passes. Do not run the machine at high RPMs as we do not want to dry the floor. Machine speed should not exceed rpms. 8) Clean slurry. Continue to use compound move it to a new area. 9) Clean floor with auto scrubber. Brush should be a soft white brush. Aggressive brushes will remove the surface. 10) Burnish with a twister or black pad. 11) If you grind with another diamond make sure the floor is completely dry before using another grit. 12) Densify with Concrete Hardener 13) Dust Mop. Clean-Up Clean sprayers with warm, soapy water following use. Warranty Legacy Chemical LLC solely and expressly warrants that for 12 months from the date of purchase its Power Refinement products shall be free from defects in materials and workmanship, but only to the extent that the product is properly installed by applicators in accordance with its product literature and in strict compliance with the installation information and instructions in the product literature and label(s). The buyer must examine the product when received and promptly notify Legacy Chemical LLC in writing of any non-conformity before the product is used and no later than 30 days after such non-conformity is first discovered. If any Power Refinement product fails to conform to this warranty, buyer s sole and exclusive remedy shall be replacement of the defective product at no cost to the buyer. Unless authorized in writing signed by an officer of Legacy Chemical LLC, no other representations or statements made by Legacy Chemical LLC or its representatives, in writing or orally, shall alter this warranty. 4 Directions for Use Power Refinement is a process requiring the use of three separate products: Cutting Compound, Hardener, and Sealer. The products must be used together to attain the desired results. Power Refinement Hardener is designed for use after all mechanical cutting stages of the concrete are complete. Ready to use and requires no blending or dilution. Mild agitation is recommended before usage. Application: Using a HIGH-VOLUME, LOW-PRESSURE, manual or commercial grade sprayer, apply the product uniformly onto the slab surface at a rate of 300 ft 2 per gallon (28 m 2 /L) as soon as power troweling of the surface has been completed. Work the product into the surface using a foxtail broom and keep the surface wet with product for a minimum of 30 minutes. Apply additional product as needed to maintain surface saturation. Allow the product to air dry. After completing application of Power Refinement Hardener, prepare for application of next product, Power Refinement Sealer and refer to its directions for application. Preparation: All surfaces must be clean, dry and free of grease, oil, dust, etc. An auto-scrubber is recommended. Prepare the surface by using a neutral ph cleaner/degreaser following the manufacturers label directions. Rinse thoroughly and allow the surface to dry. If mold, mildew or fungus is present, remove the fungus by cleaning the surface with a solution of 1 part household bleach to 3 parts water. Rinse thoroughly and allow the surface to dry. Application: Using a LOW-VOLUME, HIGH PRESSURE, manual or commercial grade sprayer, apply the product uniformly onto the slab surface at a rate of 1,000 ft 2 per gallon (92 m 2 /L). Two applications should be applied. The first application of the product should be light enough to prevent a film of liquid when sprayed. Using a micro fiber applicator, wet the surface of the pad and spread the product on the surface. DO NOT over apply. Over application will result in improper curing and possible whitening. Ensure material has dried before additional applications, a wait time of at least 60 minutes is recommended between applications. After ensuring that the product has fully cured use a high speed burnisher with a black strip pad between applications to improve surface gloss. Additional applications will improve the level of gloss. Important: Do not allow water on the surface for the first 24 hours. If water is allowed to stand in the first 24 hours, the product may turn white. Maximum strength and stain resistance should be attained within 48 hours. Maintenance: Routine sweeping, mopping, washing, and mechanical scrubbing of floors with a neutral ph cleaner are recommended. Water is sufficient in most environments. DO NOT USE cleaners that are either acidic or have a butyl base. The product is chemically resistant, however, it is susceptible to stripping with butyl degreasers and some acids Clean-Up Clean sprayers with warm, soapy water following use.
