7 BUILDING STRUCTURE The building comprises 3 terraced late Victorian buildings (50, 5 and 52 Welbeck Street), which are refurbished and interconnected to provide a single office building with a central stair and lift core. Much of the existing structure, floors and ceilings have been retained, including original cast iron columns in 52, with additional steel beams and columns inserted where necessary. The new central feature staircase is formed of reinforced concrete cast in situ. The front and rear facades of the buildings have been cleaned, repaired and restored. There is a new brick façade onto the Mews to the rear. ROOFS The roofs have been insulated and recovered with new natural slates to 50 & 5 and the roof of 52 has been re-covered in new hard core rolled lead to BS-EN2588. New flush double glazed rooflights by EGS have been installed in the roof of 52 and the flat roof of the rear extension of 50. The roof to the new build mews building is in natural slate with associated lead flashings, and Portland stone copings and parapets.
