4 2. Options for qualification delivery post 01 April 2011 From feedback received from centres and through our verification team we are aware that centres have asked for some clarity around the options open to them for delivering qualifications post 1 April Option 1 Migrate learners onto new Framework qualifications Migrate learners onto the new Framework qualifications as detailed below. QUAL NO Framework NQF QUAL NO NQF Last date for NQF registrations 2357 L3 Electrotech Hybrid Quals 2330 Electrotech VRQ 31 March Electrotech NVQ 31 March L2/L3 Plumbing Hybrid Quals 6129 Plumbing VRQ 31 March Plumbing NVQ 31 March L2/L3 Refrigeration Air 6128 RAC VRQ 31 March 2011 Conditioning Hybrid Quals 6088 RAC NVQ 31 March L2/L3Heating and Ventilation Hybrid Quals 6127 HAV VRQ 31 March RAC NVQ 31 March 2011 Option 2 register learners on existing NQF qualifications prior to 31 March Centres can register candidates on the current NQF qualifications prior to the 31 March 2011 using the current price structure indicated on Walled Garden. There is no issue from a City & Guilds point of view if learners are currently on a level 2 qualification (but have yet to achieve) and wish to go onto a L3 qualification. We recommend Centres will need to check out internally the funding situation in relation to this solution. Option 3 block register learners on existing NQF NVQ qualifications prior to 31 March For NVQ qualifications in L3 Electrotech (2356) and L2/L3Plumbing NVQ (6089) we have set up new programmes of study which will allow centres to make block registrations. These will be available from Wednesday 9 th March and will allow centres to register candidates up until the 31 March 2011 at a reduced registration fee (with unit entry) as highlighted in the table below. 5 L N/A L N/A gas to N/A to As of the 9 TH March centres will be given automatic approval for these new programmes of study and will be able to make block registration for their learners onto the new programmes of study using the revised pricing structure. EVs have automatically been allocated across from the old programme of studies. Unfortunately, we are not able to offer this option for our VRQ qualifications. If there are queries please contact your local City & Guilds office We recommend Centres will need to check out internally the funding situation in relation to this solution. Option 4 L1/L2 Access to Building Services Qualification (2000) City & Guilds has developed a Level 1 and L2 Access to Building Services Qualification (2000). The content has been produced by Summit Skills These qualifications allow individuals to obtain a taste of building services engineering and four key industries of Plumbing, Electro technical, Heating and Ventilation and Refrigeration and Air Conditioning. It will enable progression to industry-specific occupational qualifications and helps fill the technical certificate gap. We are running a number of workshops for these qualifications as per below. Alfreton Tues 17 May Taunton Thurs 2 June Birmingham Mon 6 June St Ives Tues 7 June Cardiff Thurs 9 June London Mon 13 June Glasgow Tues 21 June Newcastle Thurs 23 June Wakefield Tues 28 June Warrington Weds 29 June Please visit the City & Guilds website to book on these workshops or contact your local office. Option 5 Offer existing Electrotech VRQ (2330) and Plumbing VRQ (6129) qualifications as non-framework qualifications. As of 01 April City & Guilds will be offering its current Electrotech VRQ (2330) and Plumbing VRQ (6129) qualifications as non-framework qualifications. 5 of 6

6 New programmes of study have been set up as below. Centres will be given automatic approval for these new programmes of study (pos)and will not need to complete any approval forms. EVs will be automatically allocated to the new pos. These will be on the Walled Garden from 01 April 2011 and centre will be able to make registrations from that date as well. Option 6 Other qualifications being investigated We are currently investigating developing a range of electrical, electronic engineering qualifications at levels 2 and 3. The qualification is an amalgamation of the current Performing engineering options (PEO 7582) and the soon to be Framework 2850 Certificate in Engineering. The qualification will be both certificate and diploma in size with a minimum 237 GLH for the certificate and 432 GLH for the diploma. Units such as producing electronic drawings using a CAD system, Maintaining electrical systems, and Electrical technology will be the kind of units that will form part of this qualification. For anymore information regarding these qualifications or options please contact: Salim.visram@cityandguilds.com Christopher.bailey@cityandguilds.com Darren.quinn@cityandguilds.com Matt.lardi@cityandguilds.com 3. Request for RAC/HAV consultants City & Guilds is currently looking to expand its pool of RAC and HAV consultants to work on a range of developments and assessments.
