1 THERMAL ACOUSTIC INSULATION - Plasters DIATHONITE DEUMIX Dehumidifying premixed product fiber-reinforced with cork (gran. 0-4 mm) (gran. 0-0,15 in), clay, natural hydraulic lime NHL 5, diathomaceous earth. Natural compound, highly breathable, ready to use for indoor and outdoor, suitable for dehumidification works. The product has good fire resistance and it is recyclable as inert. Its porosity and the presence of lime makes it extremely breathable, bacteriostatic and anti-mould. BENEFITS Applicable on wet masonry, by hand or plaster machine Suitable on any kind of salinity In case of rising damp or capillar humidity it does not require preliminary treatment Thanks to its low thermal conductivity it limits superficial and interstitial condensation, contributing to thermal insulation of the wall It respects the thermal-hygrometric equilibrium of the support Perfect compatibility with mineral lime and silicate finishing Insulation from hot and cold Composed of natural hydraulic lime NHL 5 Highly breathable Fire resistant Eco-friendly STORAGE Store the product in its original containers tightly closed, away from sun, water, ice and kept at temperature between +5 C and +30 C (+41 F and +86 F). APPLICATION FIELDS Ready to use plaster for indoor and outdoor. Suitable to realize dehumidifying works, even for walls in direct contact with the ground (in combination to WATstop). The product is usable also for the refurbishment of masonry characterized by capillar rising damp. Diathonite Deumix also solves all those problems related to mould caused by humidity, guaranteeing a healthy location and a high living comfort. Moreover Diathonite Deumix is a completely natural compound and it is suitable wherever eco-friendly materials are required. Substrate must be completely hardened, dry and resistant. The surface must be thoroughly clean, well consolidated, without debris or detaching parts. Eventually clean with sandblasting and successive pressure wash. For dehumidification works: Remove the old plaster until reaching brick or stone. Do not apply the product to old plasters, paints or smoothers. Take off interstitial salt incrustation. In the absence of salt, apply directly Diathonite Deumix. For thermal insulation works: If there is an old plaster not painted, make sure that this is solid and completely bonded to the support. Do not apply Diathonite Deumix plaster to already painted surfaces. Completely remove the existing finish. In case of application of the product to smooth surfaces (concrete pillars, existing pillars not painted, wood, metal) apply Aquabond primer (see technical data sheet). MIXING If the product is mixed in a concrete mixer, add l (3,16-3,70 gal U.S) of water per bag of Diathonite Deumix. Mix the material for 1-2 minutes. Do not mix in a cement mixer for more than 3-4 minutes. The amount of water indicated on the packaging is merely indicative. It is possible to obtain more or less fluid mixture depending on the application. Never add antifrost products, cement or aggregates. products from project to project. 3/5

4 APPLICATION Application by hand 1. Abundantly wet the substrate one hour before the application. This operation is fundamental during summer time. 2. For low thickness application (2-3- cm / 0,78-1,18 in), prepare the area creating the reference bands to obtain the required thicknesses and apply Diathonite Deumix in just one coat. 3. For thicknesses higher than 3 cm (1,18 in), apply a first coat of Diathonite Deumix of about 2 cm (0,78 in) of thickness and let dry. Over the applied 2 cm (0,78 in), prepare the area creating the reference bands to obtain the required thicknesses. Apply the second coat up to the required thickness. 4. Minimum total thickness must be at least 2,0 cm (0,78 in). 5. Prop and smooth as for a normal plaster. Diathonite Deumix can be applied with a plastering machine for premixed plaster. Application by pump Use plaster machine such as Pft G4 equipped with the following accessories: closed paddle mixer, stator/rotor D6, material hose 25x37 mm length ml. 10/20 (0,98x1,45 in. length 32,8/65,6 ft/l), spray lance. 1. Load the contents of the bags inside the hopper and adjust the flowmeter. 2. Apply Diathonite Deumix with a thickness not higher than 2,0 cm (0,78 in) and let dry. Successive layers must be applied when the previous one is already hardened. 3. Prop and smooth as for a normal plaster. APPLICATION AS DEHUMIDIFYING DIASEN SYSTEM Deumidification from the inside of an underground wall brick or stone, starting from the flooring level, removing the baseboard. 2. If necessary, level the surface. 3. Apply WATstop (see technical data sheet) to block humidity in counterthrust. 4. Before the complete drying of WATstop (within 48 hours), apply Diathonite Deumix dehumidifying plaster, by hand or pump with a minimum thickness of 2,0 cm (0,78 in). Deumidification from the inside of a semiunderground wall 2. If necessary, level the surface. 3. Apply WATstop (see technical data sheet) to block humidity in counterthrust. 4. Before the complete drying of WATstop (within 48 hours), apply Diathonite Regularization up to 50 cm (19,7 in) over ground level by trowel or spray, with a minimum thickness of 0,5 cm (0,2 in) to create an antisalt barrier (see technical data sheet). If the masonry is highly ruined, the regularization must be applied over the entire wall. In any case it is necessary to estimate the damages of the structure. 5. Wait until Diathonite Regularization is dry, wet it and apply Diathonite Deumix dehumidifying plaster by hand or pump with a minimum thickness of 2,0 cm (0,78 in). Dehumidification from inside or outside in presence of salt efflorescences 2. Abundantly wet the substrate one hour before the application. This operation is FUNDAMENTAL during summer time. 3. Apply Diathonite Regularization up to 50 cm (19,7 in) over the surface with mold and efflorescences, by trowel or spray with a minimum thickness of 0,5 cm (0,2 in) to create an antisalt barrier (see technical data sheet). If the masonry is highly ruined, the regularization must be applied over the entire wall. In any case it is necessary to estimate the damages of the structure. Dehumidification from inside or outside without salt efflorescences 2. Abundantly wet the substrate one hour before the application. This operation is FUNDAMENTAL during summer time. products from project to project. 4/5

5 SUGGESTIONS Do not apply at temperature lower than +5 C (+41 F) and higher than +30 C (86 F). During summer season, apply the product during the cooler hours of the day, away from sun. Do not apply with imminent threat of rainwater or ice, in condition of strong fog or with relative humidity level higher than 70%. CLEANING Wash tools with water before product hardens. SAFETY For the handling, see product safety data sheet. While handling always use protective gloves and antidust mask. 3. Apply Diathonite Deumix dehumidifying plaster by hand or pump with a minimum thickness of 2,0 cm (0,78 in). DRYING TIME At 20 C (68 F) and with relative humidity level of 40%, the product dries completely in 15 days. Drying time is influenced by humidity level and temperature and may significantly change. Protect Diathonite Deumix plaster from ice, direct sun light and wind while drying. With high temperature, direct sunlight or strong wind it is necessary to wet the plaster 2/3 times per day for the next 2/3 after the application. To finish Dehumidifying Diasen System it is possible to apply externally the Argacem HP render and the coloured finishing Plasterpaint Coloured or Argacem Coloured; internally it is possible to use the Argacem Neutral and a breathable hydro paint.
