The only contact is for submission of questions using the contact directions as described in Exhibit A, Section III. Communication with Webcor Obayashi Joint Venture. The QBD and Pre-bid (Pre-Proposal) Request for Substitution submission time frame expired on Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Proposals are due on Tuesday, April 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. Reference the Request for Proposal, Section III.B.1 regarding document availability and how to obtain the documents. This Addendum shall supersede all previously issued Proposal Documents. All other conditions and requirements remain unchanged. a. Question TG Drawing Spec. 3/16/ (2.1) C.1.m Question Per the contract documents, several of the signage specifications require the signage contractor to procure LED/LCD panels with the signage package (ex C 1 m). Response Confirmed. The LED/LCD panels integral to the signage package are not to be provided by the TG17.1 trade subcontractor. TJPA has indicated that LED/LCD panels are not to be procured as a part of TG17.1 Signage/Graphics/Directory Systems. Please confirm that TG17.1 Signage/Graphics/Directory Systems is not to procure the LED/LCD panels integral to the signage they are providing. Question Spec. Question Response TG The following Specification Sections indicate that the ticket and added value machines are not in the contract, but the signage contractor is to coordinate with the machine manufacturer for power, dimensions and support structure: F 1 n F 1 o F 2 n F 2 o The scope of work regarding ticket and added value machines is currently being re-evaluated. These machines will not be included in the scope of work for TG17.1. In addition, final quantities are to be determined by the TJPA representative. Please provide the manufacturer of the ticket and added value machines, and final quantities for the machines. TG Will these samples / prototypes be reviewed at AGI s facility, or will they need to be shipped to site & installed? The specifications state that if not indicated specifically, we will be directed by a TJPA Representative. Due to the extreme costs of the materials and potential shipping charges, please let me know up front, what is required as there could be significant cost impacts involved. TG There is no message schedule, only location plans provided in the set we received. If the message schedule is available, please provide. TG The majority of these signs are fabricated fiberglass and will house some type of electronic equipment, there will need to some way to gain access into the sign for fabrication and maintenance reasons. What is the design intent on how to get inside these signs? Specifically speaking of the signs which house the monitor displays, speakers, etc. Final design and pricing are to be performed during development and negotiation of the final construction cost after award of the design portion of the trade subcontract (see Exhibit A Section 2. Key s, Package Timeline). This will more than likely cause shadowing or opaque areas on the face. Is this acceptable? TG a. If not included in the Specifications Report, please provide a cross reference for the following icons shown in the drawing: 1. M1 2. M2 3. M5 b. Please provide desired finish of raw materials prior to anodizing. c. Specification section required for coordinating weather system at top of sign. Please provide. d. Please provide clarification of bayonette assembly as indicated in keynote 1C. e. There appears to be some type of filler material in the base of the sign. Please clarify what this is / is for. f. Regarding installation: i. Are these signs going to be located in landscaped or hardscaped areas? I can assume by the location plans that they all look to be installed in some type of hardscape. ii. Will foundations be required, or will we be able to attach to an existing slab? iii. Are we to assume that power / communication will be brought to the location by others? iv. Can signs be installed during normal working hours? v. Sidewalk Pylon signs (PS2) are we to remove an existing sidewalk panel if foundations are required, and provide a new sidewalk panel / integral with the sign s foundation? vi. Does the existing concrete slabs have post tensioned cable? Should we allow for x-ray at all sign locations? b f. M8 iii. V6 iv. P13 b. Specifications call for this sign to have an illuminated lantern similar to the other signs The drawings call for the sign to be powdercoated aluminum. Please confirm which is correct. c. Please provide powdercoating color if the sign is powdercoated aluminum. d. The specifications also state Baked Enamel or Powdercoat finish. Which is correct? The edge bezel corner guards inset into the pylon surfaces as noted in key note 7 since the FRP material will have eased edges, should we provide a break-formed corner guard, or is the intent to have an extruded / sharp edge? c. The copy at the top of the sign has contradictory notes key notes 13 & 15. Note 13 is calling for the copy to be ¼ applied characters, while note 15 is calling for vinyl. Which is correct? d. The spec for this sign is calling for vision panel at LCD screen: Tempered glass, non-glare. Is this panel part of the LCD display, or is this panel in addition to the display? e. If so, please provide specifications and details as they are not called out in the Pylon Signage specifications. TG a. Are these signs part of the scope of work? It appears that these signs have been moved to Alternate # 18? Additionally, our proposal form does not include anything regarding alternates. Has this been taken care of by other trades? b. If we are to provide this alternate, then we will need sheets A1-7848A, E and any necessary specifications that relate to those sheets. TG a. Please provide a cross reference for the following ii. V6 iii. M8 iv. M2 v. V3 vi. V1 vii. V7 b. Regarding touchscreen overlays We will need to know exactly what these displays are intended for as the technology and cost widely varies. Are these supposed to provide interactive maps, room locations, you are here, floor levels, etc. Without more information, we would have a difficult time getting a vendor to quote. TG a. Are we to provide any above ceiling attachment structure, or will there be existing structure to mount to? c. Please provide ceiling details so we can determine the correct installation method for any above ceiling work. d. If these are to be directly mounted to concrete ceilings, do we need to accommodate for x-ray of any potential post tensioned cables? e. Please provide a cross reference for the following i. M5 ii. M9 b. What is the soffit material where the letters will be mounted? If it is finished metal or ACM, please provide section details of these areas so we can determine proper installation methods. c. Please confirm existing power will be brought to the sign location by others. d. There is no way to determine which sets of letters correspond to the mounting details as shown on sheet SG Please let us know what sign type uses what detail and quantities of those signs. Example there are (9) D1 signs. How many of those signs are mounted per detail 1, 2 or 3 on sheet SG TG a. Per the specifications, boulders are to be provided by Rooftop Paving Contractor does this mean the boulders are provided and installed by this contractor, or are we to obtain the boulders from them? b. If the sign contractor is to provide the boulders, please provide the necessary landscaping plans and specifications (321441, 2.1c) as noted on Additionally, please provide contact info for the Rooftop Paving Contractor. c. Please provide a cross reference for the following i. M5 d. Referencing key note 3 I would assume the Rooftop Paving Contractor would be flattening the stone where the copy will be mounted. Please confirm. e. Regarding installation of the boulder would this be handled by the Rooftop Paving Contractor? I would assume so since the details show penetrations into the rooftop. Please provide sample artwork or message schedule for these panels to help determine an accurate cost for the laser etching of the graphics. b. Please provide landscaping / handrail drawings for coordination. c. We cannot determine the quantity of panels per location based on the sign location plans. Please provide a breakdown of the panel quantities per location. TG a. Key note 2 states these panels are thermoformed acrylic, while notes 2A & 2B are calling for cast resin. Please confirm the correct fabrication method as there is a significant price difference. b. If these panels are thermoformed, what is the desired depth of the pan? c. SD3 only please confirm intercom box and support are not in the sign contractor s scope of work, and that we are providing the panel only. TG a. Please provide a cross reference for the following i. P2 ii. P5 ii iv. P3 v. M12 TG Is it permissible for us to deviate from the material specifications regarding the fiberglass construction? We would definitely recommend against using fiberglass for this type of construction and would propose manufacturing the bases and other components out of thicker (.188 or.25 ) aluminum. This would provide the owner with a more costeffective and more user friendly product. Using aluminum would render an aesthetically pleasing, more durable and a far better product in the long run. b c. Question Response TG Given the overall scope of the project and the outstanding list of clarification items many, of which we are bound to wait upon, in order to determine sourcing decisions and strategies we respectfully request an extension of the bid date by at least one week.
