1 7.0 SPECIFICATION OF CONDUCTORS 7.1 GENERAL This Technical Specification covers the design, manufacture, testing, Packing, (CFR) supply and delivery into the dock of Aqaba Port in Jordan and guarantee (maintain) the 400mm2 YEW (AAAC) "Conductors" to be used in the following overhead transmission lines: Lot1: Quadruple circuits between the existing Rashadiyah Ma'an 132 kv OHTL and Fujaij Wind Project Substation of total route length approximately 8kms. Lot2: Double circuit between the existing Hasa Rashadiyah 132 kv OHTL and Tafila Wind Project Substation of total route length approximately 1km. Lot3: Quadruple circuits between the existing Bayader Fuheis 132 kv OHTL and Amman South - Salt 132 kv OHTL of total route length approximately 7kms. Lot4: Quadruple circuits between the existing Ma'an Sheidiya 132 kv OHTL and Ma'an Solar Project Substation of total route length approximately 1.5kms. 50

2 7.2 PHASE CONDUCTORS 400mm2 All Aluminium Alloy Conductors (AAAC) "YEW":- This Specification covers complete design, manufacture, testing, packing and CFR supply, delivery and maintenance of 200 kilometers of All Aluminum Alloy "YEW" Conductors, made of heat treated Aluminium Magnesium Silicon alloy wires having the mechanical and electrical properties specified in IEC publication No. 208 or such other equivalent standard as may be approved by the Employer to be used mainly for overhead transmission lines. The outermost layers of the conductors shall be stranded with a right hand lay. Aluminum shall be of the highest purity commercially obtainable and shall not be less than 99.5 percent. The Tenderer shall submit certificates of analysis giving the percentage and nature of any impurities in the metal from which the wires are made. There shall be no joints in the individual wires of the outer layers of the Aluminum wires. The stranding of all layers shall be in one production process. The detailed characteristics of this conductor shall be filled by Tenderer as per schedule No TESTING The Tenderer is required to provide all facilities to enable the Employer's representative to carry out the necessary inspection and testing of the materials. The costs of all tests during manufacture and preparation of test records are to be borne by the Tenderer. All costs associated with the witnessing of the tests by the Employer s staff (two inspector), which comprise visas, hotel accommodation in 5 stars or equivalent hotel, transport and all meals, Airtickets of economic class for flights less than 5 hours without connection flight (station) out of that the Airticket shall be business class. All these costs shall be filled in by the Tenderers in the relevant item of detailed price schedules. Payment will be for the successful test only. If by the Employer's decision third party testing will be conducted, the Tenderer will conduct the required tests by the Employer. All expenses of all tests will be incurred by the Tenderer. 51

3 Testing Instruments shall be approved and shall, if required by the Employer's representative, be calibrated by the National Physical Laboratory or such other body as may be approved, at the expense of the Tenderer. Samples from the conductors shall be inspected and tested in accordance with B.S.215: part 2 or B.S. 183 or A.S.T.M. B or B.S. 3242: 1970 or such other equivalent standards as may be approved by the Employer. Ten percent of the reels, coils or spools shall be tested before stranding. Five percent of the completed reels shall be tested. The total number of samples from each reel shall not be less than 2. In general, the following tests shall be carried out at the manufacturer's works in addition to any other tests specified in the standards: - 1- Sample Tests:- i) Hard drawn Aluminium Wires - Appearance. - Diameter. - Conductivity. - Tensile Test. - Wrapping Test. ii) Complete Conductor - Appearance. - Overall Diameter. - Lay Ratio. - Weight per meter. - Mechanical Strength. 2- Type Tests: - - Creep Test. - Current Carrying Capacity Test. - Short Circuit Test. Reports for type tests of the same type of conductor shall be submitted by the offer, out of that all type tests shall be carried out and all related costs shall be incurred by the vendor, without any extension time. 7.4 MARKING The following particulars shall be stenciled on both flanges of each wooden or steel reel: - -Tender title & Number. -Manufacturer's Name. -Direction of Rolling. -End Mark. -Case Mark. 52

4 An aluminum nameplate shall be fixed to each drum and clearly marked with the following: - -Code Name & Size. -Stranding. -Length. -Net Weight. -Gross Weight. -Production Date. -Approximate Measurements Shipping Mark Form is attached. 7.5 PACKING Each length of the completed YEW Conductor quantity shall be wound on a non-returnable reel for ocean and over land export with standard length of each drum of (2000) m as follows:- - (85 %) wound on a non-returnable robust wooden reels. - (15 %) wound on a non-returnable robust metal reels. The contents of the reel shall be securely bolted or fastened in position with struts. Nails driven in and bent over shall not be permitted. All timber shall be treated or impregnated to prevent deterioration of drums on site. Waterproof paper and felt linings shall cover the inner surfaces of the wooden drum. If possible the same paper will separate all conductor layers within the reel. Drums shall be securely battened with at least 2 tight steel bands surrounding the battens so as to give maximum protection to the conductor. Particulars of the drums must be filled in by Tenderers as per Schedule No 2. 53
