2 2018 Idaho Energy Conference October 2, 2018 Program AIA and ICC credits applied for Tuesday, October 2 8:30 am 10:30 am General Overview of the Idaho Energy Codes The Idaho State Building Code Board will soon be vetting the 2018 International Energy Conservation Codes for adoption in Idaho. This general overview will walk you through the significant differences between the current energy codes and the 2018 version and will help you to prepare for upcoming changes in the codes. The class will spend most of the 2 hours on the commercial code but will briefly address the residential code changes as well. 8:30 am 2:30 pm Total Building Performance 0.4 ICC CEU s Instructor: Damon Woods, Integrated Design Lab This course will concentrate on total building performance for commercial buildings. Total building performance looks at the interrelationship of performance mandates to provide healthy buildings for building occupants and most importantly, to reduce energy consumption during the construction and operation of buildings. 10:30 10:45 am Break 10:45 am Noon Lighting This class will concentrate on commercial lighting provisions including daylighting, skylights, lighting zones and lighting controls. 1:00 pm 2:30 pm Building Envelopes This class will concentrate on commercial building envelope requirements under the 2015 IECC. 2:30 2:45 pm - Break 2:45 4:30 pm Stretch Codes and Beyond Instructor: Sharon Patterson Grant, LEED AP BD+C and Homes, CSBA This class will present the concept of stretch codes and options for these codes to be voluntary in Idaho. 3 Chapter of BSPSI Education Week October 3-5, 2018 Program AIA and ICC credits applied for Wednesday, October 3rd 8:30 am 4:30 pm Legal Aspects and Ethics of the Building Code 0.6 ICC CEUs One Day Instructor: Steve Thomas, Colorado Code Consulting The first part of this course provides individuals with guidelines for administering the legal aspects of code enforcement, prosecution and maintenance. Topics will include historical results of ignoring regulations, interpretation and application of pertinent laws and theories of legal liability. The second part will discuss ethics, with a discussion of real world issues that affect the perception and performance of the code enforcement staff IBC Significant Changes 0.6 ICC Preferred Provider CEU s Instructor: ICC/TBA The Idaho State Building Board is vetting the 2018 codes this year for adoption. This class will familiarize building officials, fire officials, plans examiners, inspectors, design professionals, contractors, and others in the construction industry with the upcoming changes from the 2015 to the 2018 IBC including changes in organization, code requirements and applicability of these requirements to design, plan review and inspection. to insure code compliance of the buildings built in your jurisdiction. IBC Chapters 10 and 11 (Egress and Accessibility).6 ICC Preferred Provider Credits Instructor: Steve Thomas, Colorado Code Consulting This class is an overview of the means of egress requirements included in Chapter 10 of the IBC. The presentation will include detailed discussions on the design of the means of egress in buildings. The class will also touch on basic concepts of Chapter 11 concerning disabled accessible design and construction. 9:00 am 4:30 pm Plan Review for Permit Techs.6 ICC Preferred Provider CEU s Instructor Adele Griffin, Boise Deputy Building Official NOTE THIS CLASS IS OFF-SITE AT THE DBS TRAINING FACILITIES THROUGHOUT THE STATE This class will be taught live through an interactive session at each DBS office. The class will be going over basic plan review techniques in the morning and helping jurisdictions build their own plan review checklist in the afternoon. Please bring your 2012 IRC if you have one. 10:00 10:15 am-break 8:30 Noon Air Balancing Certification NOTE THIS CLASS IS OFF-SITE AT THE DBS TRAINING FACILITY 0.3 ICC Preferred Provider CEU s This class is for those without a certification and those just needing recertification in air balancing. ATTENDEES CAN TAKE THE UPDATE CLASS OR THE LONGER CLASS. This class will fulfill the continuing education requirements for installers and inspectors in Idaho. The first 2 hours will be an update and the rest will fulfill your 4 hour requirement. 8:30 10:00 am Pools and Spas Code 0.3 Preferred Provider CEU s Scott Laing, Premier Pools and Spas This class will cover the pool and spa code, including pool structures and hydraulic standards. 8:30 am 4:30 pm 2015 IBC Plan Review.6 ICC CEU s One Day Instructor: ICC/TBA Designed to provide a broad overview of the process for commercial plan review, this one day course will provide the basic steps involved to complete a comprehensive review of a commercial building.
