1 PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK CITY OF TOWN AND COUNTRY STORMWATER PROGRAM Project ID Number: 1-1 Problem: The 1-foot long reach of stream between S. Mason Road and 11 Cross Land Drive is downcutting and causing bank erosion. Thick honeysuckle dominates the vegetation on both banks. The stream is cluttered with discarded trash, yard residue, and fallen vegetation. The discharge pad at the upstream flared end section at 148 Kings Glen Drive is damaged from erosion and pieces of the structure have broken. Creek erosion is threatening the pool at 11 Cross Land Drive and a fence at 141 Kings Glen Drive. Proposed Solution: Stabilize the creek reach with bank protection/biostabilization in two locations: near 141 Kings Glen Dr & 17 Cross Land Dr as well as on 11 Cross Land Dr. Install grade controls at 8- to 16-ft intervals in the stream to slow downcutting of the stream. At the bank protection locations, native vegetation should be established at the top of the slope and invasive species should be removed from the entire area. Required Easements: 11 Cross Land Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 1 Cross Land Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 14 Cross Land Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 148 Cross Land Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 17 Cross Land Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 141 Kings Glen Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 14 Kings Glen Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 148 Kings Glen Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) 1 S. Mason Road (Temporary Construction Easement) 18 S. Mason Road (Temporary Construction Easement) 1 S. Mason Road (Temporary Construction Easement) 7 Lochinvar Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) Lochinvar Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) Lochinvar Drive (Temporary Construction Easement) Commentary: Average reach slope is approximately.% (typical stable slope is. to.7%). Bank full depth is approximately ft and the entrenched depth is 6 ft. Bed width is approximately 8-feet wide. Twoinch cobble armor the bed. Limited improvements to the area are proposed in order to reduce the disturbance to the area. Many residents enjoy the screening that the thick vegetation provides. Large-scale bank stabilization would require much of that vegetation to be torn out. If residents are amenable to losing their screening, more extensive bank stabilization measures may be constructed. Significant downcutting has occurred along the reach. In addition to local bank stabilization improvements, the entire reach should be assessed in more detail to ensure a geomorphically stable channel design under a variety of flow conditions. Solutions such as raising the channel bed to reconnect it to the natural floodplain may be considered. PROJECT SCOPE OF WORK
