2 Regional pilot Project implemented in Rwanda, Kenya and Mozambique on: INTEGRATING VULNERABILITY AND ADAPTATION TO CLIMATE CHANGE INTO SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT POLICY PLANNING AND IMPLEMENTATION IN THE SOUTHERN AND EASTERN AFRICA Funded by UNEP and led by: The African Center for Technology Studies (ACTS) PO. 3 Overall Goal To reduce the vulnerability of communities to the impacts of climate change, thereby improving their well- being and protecting their livelihoods. To provide global environment benefits by contributing to the mitigation of land degradation and greenhouse gas emissions. To support achievement of its goal, the objective of the project will be to promote the mainstreaming or integration of vulnerability and adaptation to climate change into sustainable development plans and planning processes through the three pilot projects.

4 Rwanda pilot project progress July 2007: MoU signed between KIST and ACTS Project team established August 2007: Funds disbursement Field interventions start local authorities and beneficiaries sensitized, project brochure prepared and distributed September 2007: Participated in Sector level Joint Action Forum and village councils cils Procurement process for establishment of tree nurseries Steering committee Vulnerability baseline survey
