What is the age of maximm mean annal increment - basal area in sqare feet per acre? as measred by What is the inflence of site index on the timing of maximm mean nnpal increment? ow are these observations sefl to the forest manager? ndividal plot data from the East Texas Pine Plantation Research Project were available for analysis in this stdy. Each plot consists of two sbplots. Each sbplot is considered an observation. The analysis was limited to individal observations ages years and older. All observations are nthinned. /. For each observation, basal area in sqare feet per acre was calclated. Based on these vales, MA (mean annal increment) was calclated. The vales are depicted in graphs on the next twenty eight pages. From examination of the twenty eight graphs, it appears that maximm MA tends to occr between 1-17 years. Site index appears to have no inflence on the timing of maximm mean annal increment. And these observations are sefl to the forest manager... The above range of maximm MA vales cold be sed as possible gidelines for a first thinning, or a possible harvest schedle if short rotations with no thinnings are the management objective.
