3 9.3 Wear analysis (26.0 hours): Sl. Mass of new Mass of used Loss of Percent Percent wear No. blade, (g) blade, (g) mass, (g) wear, (%) per hour. Cutting disc blade: Flywheel blade (Cutting knife): Corn cracker blade: Labour requirement Two skilled operators were needed for operating the Forage Harvester continuously. 9.5 Power Requirement Power of the tractor used for field test was found adequate. 10. EASE OF OPERATION & ADJUSTMENTS No difficulty was observed during the operation and adjustment of machine. 11. DEFECTS, BREAKDOWNS AND REPAIRS Crop divider got broken soon after starting of the field test. Same was got welded. 12. SUMMARY OF OBSERVATIONS, COMMENTS AND RECOMMENDATIONS 12.1 Max. Noise at operator s ear level was observed as 98 db (A).The noise observed at operator s ear level is more than the limit specified by ILO in the range of 85 to 90 db(a). Necessary action may be taken for the comfort of operator. Page 27 of 31

4 12.2 The chemical composition of Cutting disc blade, fly wheel blade and beater bar do not meet the requirement of IS: Therefore it should be looked into for corrective action The hardness of flywheel blade (cutting knife) at hardened and reminder zone whereas the hardness of beater bar at reminder zone do not meet the requirement of IS: Therefore it should be looked into for corrective action The specification of implement hitch, in full, do not conform to the IS: 4468 (Part 1) Hence, it is recommended that implement should be provided with the hitch conforming to relevant Indian Standards Dimensions of PIC of implement, in full, do not conform to IS: and therefore, it should be looked into for corrective action The rate of work was recorded as to ha/h at forward speed of 4.36 to 4.44 kmph Length of stalk after chopping operation was recorded as 4.93 to 5.87 mm The hourly percentage rate of wear of Cutting disc, fly wheel and corn cracker blades on mass basis was recorded as 0.01, 0.02 to 0.03 & 0.04 to 0.07% respectively The manufacturer has recommended the source of tractor power to operate the forage harvester is of hp range. It seems to be much variation declared in vague. Hence, manufacturer has advised to declare the suitable range of power source of tractor only The labeling plate is provided by the applicant. However, it is recommended to provide the following information as per IS 10273: 1987 on a welded/riveted metallic plate. Name of manufacturers and trade name, if any Make Model Year of manufacturer Machine serial number Chassis serial number Recommended power source, (kw) Recommended crops Page 28 of 31
