Their resolution recognizes that forests are vital to the survival and well being of people everywhere, all 7 billion of us. It also calls for strengthening the sustainable management, conservation and sustainable development of all types of forests for the benefit of current and future generations. The goal of our Connecticut Forest Forums has always been to do just that. We know that forests provide habitat, food, fiber, medicine and clean water; and play a vital role in maintaining a stable climate and environment. Sustainable forests do all that in perpetuity. This year s Forum builds on last year s and gets specific about advancing the sustainability agenda. We ll talk the why s and how s of sustainable forest management as practiced in Connecticut. We ll talk about how to tell that sustainable forest practices are working, and about innovative funding opportunities for forest conservation. At last year s forum, 3 ongoing working groups were created to form partnerships and advance forest conservation efforts. We will hear from each of them, and give you the opportunity to get involved in keeping Connecticut s forests vibrant and connected for future generations. 1 APA members can receive CEUs for the Forest Forum as self-reported credits.
