4 Historical Development of AUT & FAE the period of the creation, construction and consolidation of the Agricultural University Campus in Kodër Kamëz (7 km far from the center of Tirana) under the centralized and isolated economy conditions of Albania the period of strong Western - European developments of AUT, the period of physical modernization and Bologna system study programs implementation (Bachelor + Master + PhD) on modernization, involvement in European Universities network.

5 International Partners and Projects for Supporting and Modernization of FAE Reconstruction Period ( ): GTZ- Germany &USAID-USA Consolidation & Modernization Period ( ) FAE has established several cooperation agreements with a lot of Universities in Balkan, Europe & USA. FAE has for more than 22 years ( ) a very close collaboration with Hohenheim University. Total: 7 Tempus Projects with Hohenheim University

Its responsibility is preparing of qualified specialists in the field of agriculture, environment and food. FAE aims at being a landmark institution in service of agriculture and rural development, contributing directly to the country's European integration.

8 FACULTY OF AGRICULTURE &ENVIRONMENT TODAY MISSION The mission of FAE is geared towards professional education and scientific research in the field of agriculture, food and environment. It is closely tied up with the provision of agricultural education in relation to fuelling the development of modern agriculture and warranting healthy and high-quality food through the active participation of students and academic staff of the university.

19 Scientific Research at FAE At FAE scientific research is deemed to be part and parcel (lifeline) of the academic life. It is also considered to be a contribution that is expected of the university towards the development for Albanian agriculture.

20 Scientific Research at AUT & FAE The main fields of research are the following: applied biological sciences; agriculture and environment; forestry science, welfare of animals and consumers, biotechnology and food, economic sciences and agribusiness etc.

22 OTHER SERVICES AT THE UNIVERSITY LEVEL The Experimental Didactic Economy The Experimental Didactic Economy has long been looked at as an out-in-thefield laboratory for the university. It is composed in these sections: Horticulture, Livestock, Aquaculture, Crop Production. It has available to its economy a total area of 130 hectare. There function a total of 4 greenhouses.

The main challenges: Improving and better adapting the curriculum and teaching programs to facilitate integration with the European system of university education along with the transfer of credits.(erasmus+ Program) Improving quality standards for teaching and scientific research to fit in with the standards of other European institutions.

Coping with extensive social and economic reforms in the country coupled with the movement towards a complete autonomous system of university and vocational training of students in accordance with the requirements of the labour market.

25 Objectives of AUT & FAE In the area of teaching The preparation of specialists and scientists able to contribute in the management of sustainable agriculture, environmental and socio-economic development of the country. Equipping our students with knowledge that is coherent with today s agriculture and environmental developments, with the contemporary methods as well as with the international standards aiming at the adaptation of the former to the labour market demands not only in Albania but also abroad.

26 Objectives of AUT & FAE In the area of teaching Equipping our students with practical skills and professional competencies in order to be able to provide various expertise in the respective agriculture, environmental and natural resources field. Offering study programs and qualification courses in order of implementation of the lifelong learning policy, so as to make possible the return of the students in the university facilities to refresh their knowledge and also for additional qualifications.

27 Objectives of AUT & FAE In the area of scientific research Increase of the level of scientific research through participation in development and scientific projects and improvement of the lab infrastructure. The development of scientific research in compliance with the country s needs based on the national strategies directions. Offering of scientific research in the third level of study on the above mentioned fields, by undertaking the preparation and qualification of young scholars and scientists.

28 Objectives of AUT & FAE In the area of scientific research Performing of scientific research and study activities that are closely related to academic activity and program of courses that the university conducts, by participating in national and international projects and being partner also to many foreign counterparts. Organizing and participating in scientific congresses and conferences, seminars and workshops in the area of agriculture, environmental protection and management.

29 Objectives of AUT & FAE In the area of services Offer expertise and technical assistance for the public and private organisations in the country and in the region. Participate in the impact assessment of big infrastructure projects and their improvement by presenting rational justifications for the decision makers. Offer specialised and qualified opinions of its academic staff through their active participation in boards, consultancy, work groups, reviews, opponent sessions, etc., strengthening thereby the relationship and cooperation with the Ministry of Environment, Ministry of Agriculture, other non-profit organisation, etc.
