2 Terms of Assessment The scope of the evaluation is to verify compliance of the Focus Lumber Bhd. to the criteria within the Sabah Timber Legality Assurance System (TLAS) Principle 5 - Mill Operations and Principle 6 -Trade and Customs standards. Compliance is defined when the organization demonstrates that there is no noncompliance to any applicable criteria. Non-compliance to the Sabah Legality Standard occurs when the organization does not comply with 1 or more criteria. Non-compliance must be formally addressed prior to certification or within 2 months following a surveillance assessment. Limitations of Assessment The information presented in this report is based on documentation and other information presented by the client and observations made during the field verification under the assessment. Auditor s reporting of information presented by the client are taken as accurate, unless evaluated differently through the observations made during the assessment. All information presented in the report is accurate and complete to the best of knowledge of GFS. Background Information: Focus Lumber Berhad (Focus Lumber) is registered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with registration # V. The company produces and trades sawn timber and plywood for local market and export to West Malaysia, The United States of America, Canada, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Marshall Islands in 2. In 2018, Focus Lumber exports plywood and veneer to Puerto Rico, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Korea, USA, Thailand, Japan, United Kingdom, West Malaysia and India. Focus Lumber segregated the imported veneer and identified the material as non-sabah TLAS. *Major = Non-Compliance 5

5 Status of Outstanding GAPs: GAP # Type Checklist Status Description 16 th August 2: Focus Lumber does not have a formal system for wood product traceability to the origin of raw material that is required by Sabah TLAS standard. All raw materials were locally sourced from Sabah. 003/2 Minor Outstanding 26 th July 2018: Focus Lumber developed a chain of custody system based on a monthly batch of log arrival and processing of Sabah TLAS material and production. However, the CoC system was not formally documented for both local and imported material; risk assessment administration of the CoC, sales, etc. as required. Observations: OBS # Checklist # Description - WIP and Finished goods were identified with a Production batch unit #. Highlights of Close-Out Visit (if applicable) Not Applicable. Date Recommendations Focus Lumber Berhad has demonstrated compliance to the Sabah Standard Principles 5-6 for Chain of Custody and is recommended to receive a GFS Audit Statement and Sabah Timber Legality Assurance System Compliance Certificate (TLAS-CC) by FDS. Gaps identified in this assessment should be addressed before the next surveillance visit. Action required to close the gaps include: Gap 003/2 (Minor) Outstanding Checklist 5.2.4: Focus Lumber must document the CoC system that includes Administration Purchasing and Identification of Sabah TLAS raw material / Importing and Risk Assessment / Receiving, Handling, Storage / Production batch unit, Identification of WIP and Finished Goods / CoC training, and Sales. Gap 004/2018 (Minor) Checklist 6.2.2: The licensee shall conduct a Risk Assessment for imported raw material to document Low Risk / VL status eligible for use in Sabah TLAS production. The next surveillance visit is scheduled in June End of Summary Report 6
