Introduction Chiang Dao Forest Secondary Forest at private area Plant biodiversity? Environment factor? Tree association? Regeneration?

Objective To study forest structure and species composition in the secondary forest of private area

Study site Private area at Chiang Dao district, Chiang Mai Province Chiang Mai Province Mae Na Chiang Dao District Average Rainfall 1,300 mm./year Temperature C Elevation 300 2,225 msl

Material and Methodology Materials 50 m. measuring tape Diameter tape Pole Digital camera Tagged aluminum number Stationery

Material and Methodology Methodology 1. Permanent plot, 40 x 40 m, n = 3 40 m 10 m tree 4m 40 m 10 m sapling seedling 4m 1m 1m

Material and Methodology 2. Measured tree and identified species Tree (DBH 4.5 cm) Measured DBH of tree ; taggeg aluminum number every species and identified species

Material and Methodology Sapling (DBH < 4.5, H > 1.3 m) and Seedling (H < 1.3 m) Identified species and counted the number of species

Data Analysis 1. Important value index (IVI) Dominant (Do), Frequency (F), Density (D) and Relative Do, Relative F and Relative D IVI = Rdo + RF + RD = 300 % (Whittaker, 1970)

Data Analysis 2. Species diversity (Shannon Wiener, 1949) H = Index of species diversity S = The number of species of all species of plant communities. pi = The ratio of the number of species (i) to the total number of all species.

Result & Discussion Species composition (34 families 81 genera 101 species) Species Families genera Species Density (stems/rai) H Seedling , Sapling Tree

Conclusion 1. Forest structure and species composition Species composition ; 34 families 81 genera 101 species Tree ; Croton persimilis, Lagerstroemia cochinchinensis, Tectona grandis Sapling ; Croton persimilis, Anogeissus acuminata, Antidesma sootepense Seedling ; Croton persimilis, Adenanthera microsperma, Ficus hispida

Conclusion 2. Natural regeneration

Recommendation Native species should be plant in this area to accelerate succession process.
