1 NOTICE OF SEALED BID TIMBER AUCTION JUNE 22, 2016, 11:00 A.M. Notice is hereby given that the Lake County Auditor shall sell to the highest responsible bidder the designated timber tracts located on the following described parcels of land forfeited to the state for the nonpayment of taxes which have been classified and appraised as provided by Minnesota Statutes , Subd. 1 (1982) subject, in part, to the following conditions: 1. The timber will be sold to the highest responsible bidder but for not less than the total appraised Tract Value. A percent bid must be indicated for the total appraised tract value. This percent will be applied to each bid species. Percent bid can be in a tenth of a percent (i.e. 2.1%). Lake County reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids. 2. All bid forms must be received in the office of the Clerk of the Board of County Commissioners by 11:00 a.m., on the date of the sale, Wednesday, June 22, All bids must be on an official bid form and sealed in an envelope. Each bidder may offer bids on a maximum of 4 tracts from the auction list (tracts 1 23). All bids may be placed in one envelope. 3. A $300 bid bond, i.e., personal check, payable to the Lake County Auditor is required for each tract bid on and must be included in the envelope with the bid form, the check will be returned if the customer is not the successful bidder. For a successful bidder, the bid bond will be applied to the down payment on the tract awarded. (Each tract bid on must have a separate $ check.) 4. Successful bidders will have 10 days to submit a check, payable to the Lake County Auditor, for 15% of the appraised tract value for each tract awarded. Failure to make any or all of these down payments on time will result in the forfeiture of the bid bond. Successful bidders will be notified by mail. 5. Should the successful bidder not submit the down payment on time, the sale may be awarded to the next highest bidder and the bond will not be refunded. In the case of tie bids, the successful bidder will be decided by the toss of a coin by the Clerk of the Board. If more than 4 bids are submitted by any one customer for tracts in the sealed bid auction list, all bids from that customer will be rejected and returned. 6. No bid shall be accepted from any bidder having a delinquent or uncollectible timber sale account with the county. 7. No bidder shall act in any capacity on behalf of a non-qualifying person, partnership or company for the purpose of purchasing timber. 8. Any unsold tracts may be purchased after the auction. For the two weeks following the auction, each purchaser (individual, partnership or company) will be limited to one tract each. After two weeks, there will be no limit on the number of unsold tracts purchased. 9. To be eligible to bid on auction tracts or to operate on county timber sales, a Lake County Forestry Contractor Application, MN Workers Compensation Law Certification of Compliance, a MN Dept. of Revenue Form ST3, and a Certification by Logger/Contractor must be on file in the County Forestry Office 10.
