7 Performance Indicator Description Frequency /cover of bracken and invasive scrub Frequency and abundance of bracken and native tree / shrub seedlings and saplings Frequency / cover of dwarf shrubs Up to 5 dwarf shrubs (including Calluna vulgaris, Vaccinium vitis-idaea, V. myrtillus, Empetrum nigrum, Erica tetralix, Erica cinerea, or Myrica gale were selected. Frequency / cover of desirable species For each habitat patch monitored a list of four desirable species present at the site was drawn up. Estimated combined cover of these species was recorded within each quadrat, using percentage cover categories, e.g. Narthecium ossifragum, D. rotundifolia, Menyanthes trifoliate.
