4 Guest Lecture Time: Nov. 16th 2017 Place: Huazhong Univ. of Science & Technology (HUST) Wuhan National Lab for Optoelectronics (WNLO) Speaker: Neil Robertson Topic: New Materials for Low-cost Photovoltaics and Photocatalysis Professor Neil Robertson of University of Edinburgh visited WuHan on Nov. 16th. And made a reported named New Materials for Low-cost Photovoltaics and Photocatalysis. Many teachers and students from Wuhan Optoelectronics National Laboratory of Huazhong University of Science and Technology listened to the speech. In this report, Professor Neil Robertson mainly introduces two aspects, the cheap and efficient hole transporting material used in the field of perovskite solar cells and the high efficiency catalyst used for water purification development of new energy. After the report was over, Professor Neil Robertson held lively discussions with the teachers and students on the new material issues in the field of photovoltaics and photocatalysis. Prof. Neil Robertson explained the problems we raised in simple terms and left a very deep impression on the teachers and students.

6 Guest Lecture Time: Dec. 22nd 2017 Place: Huazhong Univ. of Science & Technology (HUST) Wuhan National Lab for Optoelectronics (WNLO) Speaker: Wei Zhang Topic: Metal Halide Perovskites for Solar Cells and Optoelectronic Applications Wei Zhang is an Assistant professor in Surrey University of Advanced Institute of Technology. In the report, He introduced the development background and development history of solar cells at the beginning. And then explained about the research progress of the soaking growing perovskite solar cells in recent years. Mainly focused on his work relating to the preparation of good crystalline and optoelectronic properties of perovskite films. He also pointed out his views on the prospects for the future of perovskite solar cells and development direction in the near future, with profound guiding significance. After the report, Wei Zhang had heated discussions with teachers and students on the development of perovskite solar cells. The participating teachers and students showed great enthusiasm.

7 Wuhan Photonics week Time: November 3-5, 2017 Place: Wuhan China The 10th International Photonics and Optoelectronics Meetings (POEM 2017) was held on November 3-5, 2017 in WuHan. The conference attracted first-class experts, scholars, researchers and outstanding entrepreneurs from about 150 countries and regions around the world to come to the conference to share the feast of science and technology. The conference was hosted by Huazhong University of Science and Technology. The conference was highly praised and warmly praised by experts and participants both at home and abroad.

9 Activities WLNO participated in the SPIE Photonics West(2017) and the professor Luo Qingming was invited to make a presentation entitled "High-throughput dual-color precision imaging for brain-wide mapping of the connectome with cytoarchitectonic landmarks at the cellular level ".

10 Activities The annual meeting of the Huazhong University of Science and Technology Student Chapter of the international society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineering(Society of Photo-Optical Instrumentation Engineers, SPIE) and the Optical Society of America (The Optical, Society, OSA) was held in Wuhan National Laboratory photoelectric conference room A302 in June 15, There were nearly 26 masters and doctors gave the academic reports and exchanges of the above two clubs. And we invited the associate professor Yaoguang Rong who attended the Optics+Photonics meeting when he was in his PhD period and the associate professor Longyan Yuan.

11 Sports Activities We organized regular sports activities including badminton basketball table tennis and so on. This year we also organized Autumn tour to Liangzi Lake. Through activities, we improved mutual understanding and enhanced team cohesion

13 Following Activities Invite 3-5 experts in the fields of optics, photonics, nanotechnology, laser processing, sensing, imaging and so on, to give lectures; Support 1-2 student members to attend SPIE conferences in 2018, such as SPIE Photonics West, SPIE Photonics Europe 2018 and so on; Organize more sports activities such as basketball games, badminton games. Actually, we are planning to invite students who studies PE major to offer some professional training; Cooperate with WNLO, hold regular seminars every month; Establish a complete officer system and expand our chapter.
