1 Series of Trainings conducted on NTFPs Lac under MFP-MSP programme Under TRIFED, Govt. of India funded MFP-MSP training programme on 12 NTFPs of Madhya Pradesh, series of trainings on 'Sustainable harvesting, collection and processing of Lac, was organized by the Silviculture, Forest management and Agroforestry Division of Tropical Forest Research Institute, Jabalpur (M.P.) in Eight district unions viz Kurai, Barghat, Bandol, Vahidabad, Amagad, Dungariya, Pittesur and Pindrai Butte,Khawasa range of Seoni (South) of Madhya Pradesh held from 17 / 12/2018 to 20/12/2018 respectively. Dr. Nanita Berry, Scientist 'E' and Nodal Officer (MFP-training) briefed about the training programme during technical session. She delivered a lecture and explained scientific method of Lac cultivation and its management for quality product through live demonstration and finally its value addition to get additional income. Also she informed to the participants about the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the selected NTFPs as fixed by the State Madhya Pradesh Minor Forest Products Federation, Bhopal (M.P.). During the programme, Shri T.S.Sulakiya, District Forest Officer, Seoni South informed to the participants that forest department is also working in Barghat region only and needs its extension in other district range too. He also emphasized that this type of trainings are required specially for tribals- NTFP gatherer for hygienic and quality collection of NTFPs to improve their socioeconomic condition. MFP federation created good initiative to develop skill of the target groups. MFP-Federation, Bhopal has also going to establish 'Apni Dukan' in each district union to buy and sell the NTFPs collected by the support price as fixed by them during 2018 to avoid the middlemen's share. All the staff of the forest department including Range Officers -Shri Rakesh Kodape, Sudhir Patle, Range Assistants- Basant Barkade, Shahikant Saxena,, KK Chaurasiya, Jagdish Sen,Ramkumar Gurum, Subhash Dixit, Jallad Singh Bhalawi, Beat guard- Ramesh Verma were present during the programme. During each training programme more than fifty participants and other forest officials were participated. Programme was well assisted by the Shri Saurabh Dubey, Sr.Technician. At the end of the programme, Range officer of the concerned range extended vote of thanks.
