1 TEC, IVRI, Pune organised Farmer s Meet/Kissan Gosthi and Interface Meet with the Veterinary Officers of Gujarat State during 18 th and 19 th September 2017 at Navsari (Gujarat) Training and Education Centre, ICAR Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Pune organised Farmer s Meet/Kisan Gosthi with progressive farmers on 18 th September 2017 and Interface Meet with Veterinary Officers of State Animal Husbandry Department, Govt. of Gujarat and Faculty of Vanbandhu College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Navsari on 19 th September 2017 at Navsari Agricultural University, Navsari, Gujarat. The Farmers Meet/Kissan Gosthi was inaugurated by Dr CJ Dangaria, Hon ble Vice Chancellor of NAU. About 90 progressive farmers including a large number of farmwomen from Navsari and adjoining areas participated in the programme. The programme was started with lighting of lamp by the dignitaries. At the onset, Dr NH Kelawala, Dean, Vanbandhu College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry welcomed the guests and participants. Dr KN Bhilegaonkar, SIC, TEC, Pune addressed the farmers and told about the importance of the programme and expressed his happiness for participation of women farmers in a large number. Dr CJ Dangaria, Hon ble Vice Chancellor, NAU and Chief Guest of the function addressed the gathering and spoken about the need and importance of imparting training to women farmers. He urged all the participants to take benefit from the meet. During the occasion, six progressive farmers were feliciated for their significant contributions in Animal Husbandry practices. Dr NB Patel, Associate Professor, Division of LPM, NAU, proposed vote of thanks. The programme was compered by Dr Yogesh Padheria (LPM Department) The technical session included lectures on various aspects of Animal Husbandry in local language, including Nutritional Management of Dairy Animals (by Dr Vipul Patel, Asst. Professor, Animal Nutrition), Animal Husbandry Management Practices (Dr GP Sabapara, Assoc. Professor, LPM), Farmer Friendly Technologies (Dr Yogesh D Padheria, Asst. Professor, LPM), Control of Parasitic Diseases (Dr JD Solanki, Professor, Parasitology), Management of Infertility (Dr CT Khasalia, Asst Professor). Dr S Mahmood, Principal Scientist, IVRI, Izatnagar, talked about the importance of selective breeding and timely heat detection and artificial insemination. During the occasion, the documentary film about IVRI was also shown. All the farmers took keen interest and actively participated in the deliberations. The Interface Meet between the scientists of IVRI with the veterinary officers of Department of Animal Husbandry and Faculty of Vanbandhu College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry was organized on 19 th September A total of 114 veterinary officers, and members and PG students from the Veterinary College attended the meet. The Chief Guest of the inaugural function was Dr CJ Dangaria, Hon ble Vice Chancellor, NAU. The programme was started with lighting of lamp and playing of University song and IVRI song. Dr NH Ketawala, Dean, Vanbandhu College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry, Navsari welcomed all the guests, dignitaries and participants. Dr KN Bhilegaonkar, SIC, TEC IVRI addressed the delegates and informed 1

2 about history and salient achievements of IVRI and the mandate and activities of IVRI Pune Centre. Dr Mahesh Chander, JD (EE) in his address urged the officers to actively take part in advanced training courses organised by IVRI and other national institutes. Dr Savalia, DSW, NAU, also addressedn the participants. Dr CJ Dangaria, Chief Guest of the function, in his address, told the participants about the importance of upgrading the knowledge and skill in doubling the farmers income by He also urged all the officers to take full advantage of the interface meet, and thanked IVRI and Vanbandhu College of Veterinary Science and Animal Husbandry for organizing the programme. Afterwards Dr NB Patel, Assoc. Professor (LPM) proposed vote of thanks. The technical session started with the presentation of on An Overview of IVRI Technologies by Dr KN Bhilegaonkar, SIC, TEC, Pune, followed by lectures on Nurtitional Package of Practices by Dr LC Chaudhary, Pr Scientist (AN), Package of Practices for Reproductive Problems by Dr S Mahmood, Pr Scientist (AR), Surgical Technologies and Interventions by Dr HP Aithal, Pr Scientist (TEC), Entrepreneurship Development and Organic Animal Husbandry by Dr Mahesh Chander, JD (EE). Two members from Veterinary College, Navsari also gave presentations on Various Package of Practices followed in Veterinary Polyclinic, Navsari and on Diagnosis of Infectious Diseases. This was followed by interaction and discussion. All the officers have actively participated in the discussion and during the interaction various points were discussed, including conduction of training programmes, low cost user friendly pen side tests, early pregnancy diagnosis, tube cystostomy and epoxy pin fixation techniques etc. The programme ended with National Anthem. The two days programme was coordinated locally by Dr Sandhya Chaudhary, Professor and Head, LPM Division, NAU, Navsari.
