Majority of retained trees Doug-fir, with other species represented in minor amounts. Thinning Harvest Rx GTR Thin to 70% CC ( residual tpa, suggested 12'x12' DxD) in outer portion of meadow buffer from 50 to 150 feet from meadow. No harvest within 50 feet of meadow. Locate in old growth to the east of unit. Riparian Harvest Rx Botany Rx Put 150' riparian reserve buffer on regeneration harvest. 75' buffer on perennial streams for Commercial Thinning. 50' buffer on class IV for thinned areas. Layout with Botanist. BRNO, PEPA is present. It is also a site of false brome and tansy. Unit needs full canopy within riparian reserve to shade out tansy. 50' buffer around PEPA if thinned but for the regen we need a 100 foot buffer (UTM's in small alder patch). ATP around BRNO, 150' buffer. Pretreat meadow for tansy before harvest. Special Habitat Rx Meadow was a frost pocket and is very weedy with both tansy and Canada thistle. The meadow is wet and has a lot of elk use. Place 150 foot buffer around the meadow. Leave 50 foot no-harvest buffer on meadow and thin within the buffer to 70% CC in the area between 50 and 150 feet from the meadow. The reason for thinning here is to increase understory diversity. Keep some downed wood. Spring burn is possible. No sites. Enhance traditional sites where possible. Plant 436 tpa (10x10' spacing), majority noble fir and lesser amounts western white pine and western redcedar. Also plant huckleberry, with a high level of huckleberry around meadow edges. Thin more heavily (40% CC, tpa) within 100 feet of road 333 for fuel break. There is a concern of sunscald in noble fir in the fuel break area. If during layout, large quantities of noble fir are encountered, ITM with preference to retain Douglas-fir to minimize sunscald. If not ITM, suggested 18'x18' DXD. Leave green tree retention around wetlands (south of scree) (In old growth to west of unit). Unit 2 includes both Unit 2 and Unit 80 to the north. East of 333 road and north of vine maple scree slope is regen area. GTR around wetlands south of scree (in old growth to west of unit). Pre/post treatment for north meadow for weeds. Wetland has weeds (Canada thistle) in it. Won't treat meadow in this unit. It is very wet. Leave a 50 foot no-harvest buffer on the meadow. Duff retention is 20-40%, LTSR Travel/forage opportunities via commercial harvest. Boughs.
