Declaratin f State f Calamity Municipality f BOTOLAN, Zambales F. Emergency Incidents Crdillera Administrative Regin (CAR) Benguet Three (3) landslide incidents ccurred in Itgn: Siti Luneta, Brgy. Lakan; Brgy Ild Pblacin; and Brgy Gumatdang which resulted in the fllwing: cllapse f the Luneta Elementary Schl; damage f three (3) ball mills; and damage f five (5) huses and cllapse f riprap wall at Purk 2 Lakan. Swelling f Balili River in La Trinidad, Benguet and Abra River Bagui City Retaining wall alng Brgy. City Camp Prper cllapsed Fur (4) landslide incidents ccurred in Brgy Kias; Brgy Balsigan; Camp 8; and Camp 5. The landslide site in Kias, Bagui City is a tri-bundary f Bagui City- Itgn-Tuba, Benguet Prvince. At arund 8:00 t 9:00 AM, 7 August 2009, undetermined number f small-scale miners frm Emerald Muntain Explrers Assciatin Inc. (EMEAI) was perating/manning 3 units f ball mills in their respective camps at Siti Paltikan, Kias, Bagui City when a landslide ccurred n tp f Emerald Muntain upslpe the miner s camps. Landslide materials such as mud, earth and bulders cascaded the muntain slpe fllwing a gulley which hit 3 miners camps adjacent the Liwliw Creek Ten (10) small scale miners respnded and prceeded t the crisis site when anther wave f landslide cming frm the crest f Mt. Emerald hit the respnding team. Emergency respnders utside Kias assisted in the SAR peratins. Ten (10) small-scale miners were rescued and brught t the Bagui General Hspital fr treatment. One victim wh was in serius cnditin died at the hspital. Anther bdy was recvered. On 08 August, 7:30 AM CRDCC TWG cnvened and planned the strategy n the SAR /retrieval f landslide victims at Siti Paltikan, Kias, Bagui City. The retrieval team cmpsed f MGB, OCD, PNP, PDCC Benguet, Bagui CDCC, PMADRTG, PHILEX, Benguet Crpratin and small scale miners assciatin prceeded t the site where bdies f the victims were fund in spradic places such as in creek and piled debris. Nine bdies were retrieved and identified by their respective kins Retrieval peratins fr the landslide victims were temprarily suspended due t cntinuus rain and imminent danger f anther landslide (3 rd wave) due t sil saturatin. Retrieval peratins will resume tmrrw, 10 August. 2
