ENG Sawlines HEINOLA SYNCRO CUTTING SYSTEM

HEINOLA Sawlines Kari Kiiskinen HEINOLA SAWMILL MACHINERY INC. has developed a new method for double arbor circular saws for use in saw lines with an active curve sawing function. We call this method the HEINOLA Syncro Cutting System. In this solution both shafts of the double arbor saw are installed on top of one another in same line. In this way we are able to minimise the area where the saw blades are in contact with the wood in the cutting section. This also allows the outer edges of the saw blades to pass each other on the cutting section. This process ensures a very high surface quality in sawn goods and makes it possible to cut the log according to its natural curve. The rollers which steer the cutting are positioned extremely close to the cutting section. They follow the shape of the tree according to the scanned curve, which enables optimal conditions for curve sawing. The first installations of this solution have had great success when operating in production lines.

HEINOLA SYNCRO CUTTING SYSTEM IN THIS SOLUTION both shafts of the double arbor saw are installed on top of one another in the same line. The teeth of the upper saw blades run inside the arc of the lower saw blade. The rotation of the saw blades is synchronised mechanically. It is not possible for the cutting tools to come into contact with each other during the cutting process. With this method we can offer optimal curve sawing conditions combined with the smallest possible cutting area for a circular saw blade. At the same time we can achieve a very high quality surface for sawn goods with no visible joint on the area where the saw blades meet. Maintenance of the cutting tools is also convenient while the blades are easily reached on both shafts.

CUTTING ACCORDING TO THE SCANNED CURVE IN HEINOLA SAW LINES the cant is cut according to scanned data whilst also following the actual shape. When cutting the rollers either side of the cutting blades guide the cant according to the scanned curve. The double arbor saw blades are placed in the same line allowing the shortest possible cutting section for a circular saw in curve sawing operation.

HEINOLA SYNCRO CUTTING SYSTEM USES BOTH SAW BLADES EQUALLY BOTH CUTTING SHAFTS are guided using their cutting height so that the point where the two saw blades meet is in the centre of the cant being cut. The machine is either lifted or lowered according to the height of the cant. The cutting forces produced will be equally dispersed via the upper and lower shafts. The saw blades are placed on top of one another, in order to achieve the shortest possible cutting section. The saw blade cannot be bent by the curvature of the cant and both the top and base of the curved cant follow their own path outside the cutting section. Depending on the height of the cant, different sized collars can be used to support the saw blades and to allow higher cutting speeds with thinner blades.
