1 Albert Street Brunswick Street Tree Planting Moreland City Council is committed to improving the appearance of the municipality and increasing tree canopy to keep the city cooler. After requests from local residents and the Brunswick Residents Network, street tree planting will commence for the north side of Albert Street in August 2018 and in 2019 for the southside and in road sites. Albert Street has a range of challenges for planting street trees such as narrow footpaths, underground and overhead services (powerlines, water, gas and communications). Most trees will be planted in the footpath with some going in to the road at grade. The following trees species suit these conditions. Thereisa mix of native, exotic, evergreen and deciduous trees to ensure there is adequate lighting during winter for public safety, while still providing habitat trees, summer canopy shade and year round amenity improvements. Example sites are listed where you can see these trees growing successfully. We are also looking at opportunities in front gardens.
