HARVEST SPECIFICATIONS Cutting and Felling: - Harvest maple, aspen, basswood, paper birch and most of the red oak. - Reserve 3 healthy crowned red oak per acre (approx. 120' spacing) as well as any other species not in harvest list. - Reserve all non-hazardous snags. - Damaged reserve trees will be charged according to the liquidated damages schedule. Damage is defined as 10% of stem circumference and greater than 30% of live crown. - Do not fell timber into adjoining timber. Season of Operations: Page 1

2 HARVEST SPECIFICATIONS Season of Operations (Continued): Timber Appraisal Report - Harvest Specifications (Continued) - Conduct sale operations on very dry / frozen soil conditions only, except with written permission from State. Slash Disposal: - Keep trails, roads, landings, drainages, and dry washes free of logging residue. - Distribute slash evenly across the site, with a preference on steeper slopes. - Biomass harvest is allowed on this permit. An Added Timber Agreement is required. - If biomass is purchased with an Added Timber Agreement, 20% of the tops and limbs must be left on the site or hauled back from the landing and redistributed in the general harvest area. This percentage may be adjusted up or down to meet the 1/3 retention goal if incidental breakage is more or less than 10-15%. Site, Soil and Water Protection: - If site damage becomes apparent, alter or cease operations and contact State. - No operations within painted areas and any visible vernal pools. - Leave at least 5 sound downed logs greater than 6" diameter and 6 feet in length per acre. - Water diversion structures must be operational during sale operations and through sale closure. Landings Roads and Trails: - Post "Trucks Hauling" signs 200 feet beyond either end of road/trail section being used. - The location and construction of all roads, trails, water crossings, borrow pits, and landings must be pre-approved by the State. - Improved or constructed access roads shall not have a finished roadbed width greater than 15 feet and a clearing width of 25 feet, except with written permission from the State. Pullouts may be constructed every 1000 feet as needed. - Haul roads must be regularly maintained in a safe and usable condition. - Haul roads will be restored to pre-sale conditions. - Block haul road from the north as directed by the State when leaving the site for more than two weeks and / or upon completion of operations. - Stabilize roads, skid trails, borrow pits and landings as directed by the State as sale operations proceed. - No equipment travel is permitted outside of timber sale area except on approved access trails. - Incorporate water diversion practices when constructing or upgrading roads, skid trails, and landings as directed by State. Sale Conditions: - Access is across a State easement road through Fond du Lac and State land. Best access is from the north on an existing logging road through Fond du Lac land. - Permission to cross from the north through Fond du Lac land must be obtained by permittee. Marketing and Special Conditions: Sugar Maple Pulp & Bolts: Average 10" DBH and 4 sticks Basswood Pulp & Bolts: Average 12" DBH and 5 sticks Paper Birch Pulp & Bolts: Average 10" DBH and 5 sticks Red Oak Pulp & Bolts: Average 13" DBH and 5 sticks Aspen Species Pulpwood: Average 15" DBH and 6 sticks Tree sizes are averages based on field estimates, actual sizes will vary larger or smaller. At time of sale preparation, FDL was agreeable to allow access from the north. Please contact to verify: FDL Forestry Road from the south is steep &/or winding at some locations.
