HARVEST SPECIFICATIONS Cutting and Felling: - Harvest all Aspen Species,Mixed Spruce, Maple species.balsam Fir, Black Ash and Tamarack. - Reserve all White Pine, White Cedar,Yellow Birch, Paper Birch, Basswood and Elm. - Reserve all non-hazardous snags. - Damaged reserve trees will be charged according to the liquidated damages schedule. Damage is defined as 10% of stem circumference and greater than 30% of live crown. - Do not fell timber into water, wetland, cultural resources, road, trail, or adjoining timber. - Trembling Aspen contains less than 1% Balm Of Gilead. - Damaged residuals will not be removed. Season of Operations: - Conduct sale operations on frozen soil conditions only, except with written permission from State. Slash Disposal: - Keep trails, roads and landings free of logging residue. 2 HARVEST SPECIFICATIONS Slash Disposal (Continued): Timber Appraisal Report - Harvest Specifications (Continued) - Remove all slash within 10 feet of all roads, right of ways and trails,. - Distribute slash across the site. - Maintain a 10 -foot slash-free alley along permit boundary. - Biomass harvest is not allowed on this permit. Site, Soil and Water Protection: - If site damage becomes apparent, alter or cease operations and contact State. - Leave at least 5 sound downed logs greater than 6" diameter and 6 feet in length per acre. Landings Roads and Trails: - The location and construction of all roads, trails, borrow pits and landings must be pre-approved by the State. - Improved or constructed access roads shall not have a finished roadbed width greater than 15 feet and a clearing width of 25 feet, except with written permission from the State. Pullouts may be constructed every 1000 feet as needed. - Haul roads must be regularly maintained in a safe and usable condition. - Road right of way crossing approval from MNDOT may be required. - Block haul roads as directed by the State when leaving the site for more than two weeks and / or upon completion of operations. - Stabilize roads, skid trails, borrow pits and landings as directed by the State as sale operations proceed. - No equipment travel is permitted outside of timber sale area except on approved access trails. Sale Conditions: - Access is across State DOT land. - Permission to cross State DOT land must be obtained by permittee. - Provisions of access and /or water crossing permits will become part of sale terms and conditions for this sale. Marketing and Special Conditions: Trembling Aspen Pulpwood: Average 12" DBH and 4 sticks Balsam Fir Pulpwood: Average 8" DBH and 4 sticks Mixed Spruce Pulp & Bolts: Average 10" DBH and 5 sticks Maple Species Pulpwood: Average 8" DBH and 3 sticks Ash Pulpwood: Average 9" DBH and 3 sticks Tamarack Pulp & Bolts: Average 9" DBH and 3 sticks Tree sizes are averages based on field estimates, actual sizes will vary larger or smaller. Aspen Averages about 4.5 sticks and 12"dbh and contains less than 1% BOG. This Timber Sale is in the Ash Quarantine area.
