1 Proposal for Convergence of NAP & NREGA in Kachchh District : Gujarat Kachchh district of Gujarat state has the largest geographical area 54,652 km 2, which is about 24% of geographical area of the Gujarat State Tree cover : 7.7% Forests Area : ha (5.24 %)

2 Socio-Economic Profile Human population in Kachchh district : 12.6 lakh with a sex ratio of 964 females per 1000 males. Human population density : 65 persons per km 2 Socio-economically weaker sections 19% of the total population I. Scheduled Caste : 11.9% II. Scheduled Tribe : 7% Rural Population : 69% Urban Population : 31% Literacy rate : 53%, (State average of 61%).

6 In Kachchh District : Gujarat All the Activities of NAP can be converged with NREGA and funded under NREGA, Because Only two models are being implemented under NAP : Artificial Regeneration Pasture Development Both the activities have more than 60% labour component Entry Point Activities and other overhead expenditure will be covered within 40% material cost. NO Contractor System : But all the Local people have to be employed
