5 Feeding principle The 200-Series is characterized by a two-roller feeding principle. Harvester heads are equipped with a pair of feed rollers that are driven by hydraulic feed motors. While feeding, the stem is carried by delimbing knives while feedroller arms simultaneously press the rollers sideways towards the stem. Wide feed rollers provide a large contact area at the stem surface for efficient feeding of different size stems. The hydraulic feed motors combine excellent starting torque and high speed for highly productive processing. Friction between the harvester head frame and the stem is minimized. Harvester heads may be customized for different applications with a variety of factory options, including feed motors of various power levels and a choice of feed-roller types. 5

6 Delimbing John Deere harvester heads feature delimbing knives shaped for quality delimbing of all sizes of stems. Knife geometry and long cutting edges provide durability and efficient delimbing. The innovative proportional hydraulic control quickly adapts the positioning of the knives to the diameter of the stem, leading to high-quality delimbing. Necessary hydraulic pressure adjustments can be easily made from the cabin. The wide opening of the knives allows fast grabbing for the felling cut, reducing processing time and improving productivity. 6

7 Cutting John Deere harvester heads are equipped with the SuperCut 100 saw unit that efficiently manages the frequent crosscutting of stems required in CTL logging. The latest sensor technology together with the new TimberMatic H-09 control system provides outstanding pressure control and an array of settings throughout the tree-diameter range. The saw unit s automatic chain tensioning reduces maintenance efforts and prolongs the lifetime of the bar and chain. Fully integrated chain lubrication is economical, ensuring low operating costs. The patented chain catcher is a standard safety feature of all John Deere harvester heads. If required, the saw unit may be customized with a variety of factory options, including Parker or Bucher saw motors, bar and chain kits, and several types of lubrication pumps. 7

8 Precision measuring The new TimberMatic H-09 is a highly accurate control and measuring system with a straightforward user interface to ensure efficiency and reliability. The TimberMatic H-09 enables configuring settings of saw functions, diameter-based positioning of feed-roller arms and delimbing knives, and various feeding and crosscutting functions, all via one system. The user also benefits from a number of shortcut keys. Log lengths are measured with the help of a measuring wheel located in the middle frame section of the harvester head. Log diameters are detected via two sensors located at the delimbing knives. Monitoring system For top performance you can track, all John Deere E-Series wheeled forest machines come equipped with an exclusive TimberLink machine performance follow-up and optimization tool. The system enables you to keep an eye on operating costs and ultimately protect your investment. The unique TimberLink system constantly monitors the technical performance of the entire machine, including boom and harvester head. The system provides information on fuel consumption, productivity, and time management in different stages of the harvesting process. 8

9 H752HD The John Deere H752HD is a thinning harvester head characterized by a twowheel-drive feed system, four moving and two fixed delimbing knives, and a very compact size. It is designed for use with medium-sized wheel and track harvesters in the 15- to 20-ton range. With the compact H752HD, it is easy to catch, fell, and process trees in dense forest stands. It enables efficient boom movements, enabling high productivity in thinning operations. For even more enhanced productivity in thinnings and energy wood harvesting, the H752HD can be optionally equipped with a multi-tree-handling device. MTH enables the collection and simultaneous processing of several small-size stems. H270 The John Deere H270 is a high-capacity harvester head. Its ideal applications are late thinning and regeneration harvesting. The H270 is typically installed to large wheel harvesters (e.g. John Deere 1270E and 1470E). Powerful two-wheel-drive feeding, excellent delimbing via four moving knives, one floating and one fixed knife, and the highly efficient SuperCut 100 saw unit deliver superior performance. The H270 can fell trees up to 650 mm in diameter. Knife geometry ensures quality delimbing from large to small diameters. 9

10 H290 The John Deere H290 is an extremely powerful harvester head for large wheel and track harvesters. The H290 is made to face the hard-wearing conditions of regeneration harvesting. Dual-speed feed motors permit full controllability, high torque, and speed for processing heavy logs. The feed motors feature two fixed power displacements (non-variable) 1st and 2nd gear. Automatic control is based on monitoring the feed speed. The SuperCut 100 saw unit can fell and process trees up to 750 mm in diameter. An optionally available top saw enables easy toping and the utilization of the treetop, thus increasing logged timber value. Four moving delimbing knives and one fixed, adjustable top knife follow the contours of the stem and ensure excellent delimbing quality. 10
