11 As one of the leading sawmill and wood processing companies in Europe, we have been supplying the market for over 110 years with renewable wood products. In our 3 sawmills in Oberrot, Baruth, and Wolfegg, around 1,000 employees provide an annual cutting capacity of more than 2 million cubic meters of logs. The result is an extraordinarily diverse product range that includes both processed and natural wood products. 12 OUR HISTORIC FAMILY TREE Albert Klenk founded the Klenk sawmill in Oberrot more than 110 years ago. Along with it he sowed the seeds of a business culture that has grown over time and dedicated itself completely to the environmentally-friendly CO 2 -neutral raw material of the future Set-up of pallet block production in Oberrot. Acquisition of Klenk Holz AG by The Carlyle Group Albert Klenk founded the Klenk sawmill in Oberrot The brothers Eugen and Hermann Klenk, aged 17 and 15, take over the family company Construction of the first chipper canter sawmill Commissioning of the new KVH (solid structural timber) plant in Baruth Majority owner of Thurn und Taxis Waldpflege (TTW), which becomes a wholly-owned subsidiary in Fully automated bark incineration plant for energy generation Start of glued laminated timber production Acquisition of hiwo Holzindustrie GmbH in Wolfegg. 15 KLENK HOLZ HABITATS. With our 3 sawmills in Oberrot, Baruth, and Wolfegg, we cover all sectors of the market and meet the requirements of both trade and industry with high quality wood products. Each sawmill has its own focus on specific wood species and wood products. We operate biomass heating plants at all 3 locations in Oberrot and Baruth with cogeneration of heat and electricity and thereby supply both ourselves and the surrounding area with renewable energy from nature. 13

17 TTW WALDPFLEGE GMBH TTW Waldpflege has been part of Klenk Holz since With a harvest and trade volume of 2.5 million cubic meters of logs and industrial wood, TTW is the largest German forest service provider as well as the leader in the development and use of mechanized wood harvesting systems. It employs more than 50 staff members and workers in Oberrot and the southern branch office in Wolfegg and the northern branch office in Baruth. WALD PLUS GMBH Wald Plus GmbH in Salem is a forest service provider company in which Klenk Holz holds an interest. The company provides a tailor-made range of services for forest owners and companies of the forest and timber industry. Wald Plus GmbH is represented with its portfolio both in Germany and Switzerland. 15

25 The careful handling of wood, a CO 2 -neutral raw material, the production of predominantly PEFC certified products, and the re-use of every individual chip that comes into being in our plants, are all a part of our conscious dealing with nature. We cultivate the natural cycle of our element through maintaining a very special value chain. For we don t simply process the regenerative energy source. 26 GOOD THINGS COME IN TREES. Our know-how is based on a one hundred year long tradition centered on the regenerative web of the forest. We set to work every day with this knowledge and awareness. In doing so we use sustainably managed domestic wood species such as spruce, fir, Douglas fir, pine, and Mark Brandenburg pine. And what s more: Wood chips become pulp for paper, sawdust turns into chipboard, and wood shavings become presswood pallets. Even bark is put to use as an energy source in our company s own heating plants. Completely environmentally friendly. And completely valuable according the Klenk Holz principle. 24

It grows very slowly and develops a high wood density due to the typically sparse sandy ground and the nutrient-poor soil. The optimal growing conditions ensure maximum stability and load-bearing capacity. The storage of essential oils and resin result in the Mark Brandenburg pine s natural resistance to fungi and insect attacks so that the wood is especially suitable for use in roof areas. 25
