When visited again in 006 its condition had deteriorated, probably fro its proxiity to the walking track. Maori Heritage Place No. (V/84) This heritage site located just outside the Park boundary, was recorded in 988 and identified in the New Zealand Archaeological Association s database ArchSite as: V/84, NZTM: E: 954; N: It is located just north of Te Mata trig and consists of a group of depressions atop a hill. Maori Heritage Place No.: The Karaka Grove Karaka trees are generally an indication of settleent in an area.
