2 Who is: Amandla Resources? ARD has been operating in SA since1999 Specialise in physical and human resource development. Develop sustainable job creation initiatives. Create profitable partnerships between business and communities. Website: Click here New Horizons Thuthuka Group Ltd Engineering division. Construction division. Industrial division. Project finance. R & D. International operations. Website: Thuthuka Group click here 11 Silverleaf, Zimbali Forest Estate. Cell phones: / Page 2
3 Who is ZCSD? A not for profit Section 21 Company: operating since Specialise in sustainable community development. Identify job creation initiatives. Training & mentoring. Integrate BEE and community job creation opportunities into large commercial projects. Biomass Objectives: To source tons of biomass: to generate 60 MWH s green power. To identify the best and most cost-effective harvesting system. To identify the most cost-effective transport system. To secure biomass supply. To identify a possible site for the power plant. Secure Power take-off customers. 11 Silverleaf, Zimbali Forest Estate. Cell phones: / Page 3
4 Biomass Types and Sources: Timber: (eucalyptus, wattle, pine). Tons per hectare (140 to 220t/ha over 7 to 25 years harvest cycle) Roots (6%) Stumps (5%) Foliage (5.2%) Bark (13.5%) Branches (5%) Stems/logs (burnt timber, coppice) (67.1%). Sugar Cane: Up to 160 tonne / Ha per harvest (with irrigation). Trash (leaves, tops) Whole stick green or burned Bagasse (milling operations waste). Cane Yields & Growth Period: Yield - 60 to 160 tons per Ha (stalk): this will yield (33%) bagasse, at the mill, for Biomass conversion. Cane tops & trash about 20+ tonne/ Ha / harvest. Growth period to Harvest: 12 to 24 months depends on climate and soil, rainfall etc. 11 Silverleaf, Zimbali Forest Estate. Cell phones: / Page 4
5 Other Wood-waste: Sawmilling operations waste & wood-yard trimmings Timber products manufacturing wastes Paper waste Pallets and crate discards. Other Agricultural Residues: Corn, Wheat, other grain stover Sugar Cane Bagasse ex milling operations Animals wastes and bio-solids/ Abattoir offal/ manure/ swill Rice hulls, Coconut shells, Oilseed stalks. Energy Crops: (planted specially for BioMass). Hybrid Poplar/ Surplus pine/ Eucalyptus/ Willow etc Grasses (Switchgrass/Cane/ Fodder/ Bamboo/ Sorghum) Oilseeds (Soya/ Canola/ Sunflower/ Jatropha/ Moringa) Moringa Trees (wood-mass as well as the oilseed) Algae grown for BioMass. 11 Silverleaf, Zimbali Forest Estate.
