The Conservation Reserve Enhanced Program (CREP) area is subject to a permanent conservation easement held by the Sangamon County Soil and Water Conservation District. This easement requires continued conservation use: no buildings, roads, nor cropping. It does not require providing public access. The piers for the former bridge across the Sangamon River remain standing at the east end of the railroad right-ofway.
