28 Garden Insects: *Many types of insects will visit your garden throughout their various instar (life cycle) stages. *It is important to realize which ones are beneficial to your plants, which ones are harmful, and which ones are merely bystanders. *Insects play a critical role in our local food chains and food webs, and we consider them to be key players in our landscapes & gardens. *Try to be able to identify all insects in your garden. With proper identification, you can identify whether or not you may need to begin an IPM program. Photo provided by Noah & Mary Helen Rosenstein
