2 Introduction Corradi, a customer-focused and environmentally friendly company, has obtained some important certifications that will have a positive impact on its operations. In particular, Corradi has adapted its business to all the environmental legislative guidelines affecting its production processes. 100% Corradi Quality Corradi is: eco-aware, with UNI EN ISO 14001:2004 certification on environmental management and therefore human health protection and PEFC certification on sustainable forest management, i.e. use of woodland that is sustainable, economically positive and socially useful for present and future generations with a view to maintaining the forestry system in balance with the environment; preserving and increasing the biodiversity and, more generally, the complexity of the system; making cultivation consistent with the other systems interacting with the woodland. socially responsible, with UNI EN ISO 9001:2000 certification, i.e. attentive to customer satisfaction, thanks to the continual improvement of internal production processes. For Corradi gaining certification is a major commitment because the company is subject to regular inspections by TÜV, the most accredited and strictest of the international certifying bodies. 5 CompanyCertifications PEFC Corradi products are constructed using wood sourced from sustainable forests. This means that trees are periodically replanted where wood was taken. PEFC, or endorsement of forest management, is a recognised and tested check procedure that leads to issuance by the independent body of a certificate demonstrating that the woodland management schemes comply with determined sustainability requirements. A fundamental problem with the application of self-certification systems lies in the definition of criteria and of indicators of sustainable forest management (SFM), i.e. of quantitative and qualitative parameters (descriptive) that, when periodically measured or observed, enable environmental performance and sustainability of forest management system to be assessed. There are now over 5,000 PEFC certified companies in over 71 countries around the world; in Italy just over 100 companies are certified, including Corradi.
