4 From conflict to cooperation, From cooperation to business partner. How Fibria creates shared value Native Tree Nurseries Fibria acquires seedlings for its Restoration Program from family-based and community-managed native tree nurseries. These nurseries also provision local farmers, participating in the PDRT program, for the establishment of agroforestry systems in the field. In the past, the relationship with local communities was marked by conflict in the form of intentional forest fires, wood theft for illegal production of charcoal and occupations of productive land by social land movements. Through dialogue and structured programs that foster community engagement, a coexistence based on cooperation was established. Moving forward, the company seeks partnership opportunities allowing its neighbors to become part of its value chain. Rural farmers use Fibria s productive land to plant produce.
