1 MATTERS RAISED WITH PERMISSION 1. On the 26 th July, 2005, Shri Ravula Chandra Sekar Reddy raised a matter regarding epidemic break out of Malaria, Anthrax and Dengue, etc. in the agency areas of the State of Andhra Pradesh, particularly in the Vishakhapatnam district. Dr. Anbumani Ramadoss, Minister of Health and Family Welfare 2. On the 27 th July, 2005, Shri Nilotpal Basu raised a matter regarding grave situation prevailing in the Gurgaon district of Haryana due to the agitation by workers of a multinational company. Shri S.S. Ahluwalia also spoke. 3. On the 28 th July, 2005: (i) Shri N.K. Premachandran raised a matter regarding brutal attack on him by the Kerala police on the 8 th July, 2005 at Thiruvananthapuram. Shri Jaswant Singh, Leader of the Opposition and Shri Nilotpal Basu also spoke. the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (ii) Shri Yashwant Sinha raised a matter regarding stand of the Government of India on the Kyoto Protocol concerning global warming. 4. On the 29 th July, 2005: (i) Shri Jairam Ramesh raised a matter regarding political and economic importance of signing of a statement called Asia Pacific Partnership for Clean Development and Climate by United States

2 of America, Japan, Australia, South Korea, China and India at Laos on the 28 th July, Shri Yashwant Sinha and Shri Saif-ud-Din Soz also spoke. Shri A. Raja, Minister of Environment and Forests, (ii) Shri Kalraj Mishra raised a matter regarding bomb blast in Train No. 2391, Patna-New Delhi Shramjeevi Express on the 28 th July, Shri V. Narayanasamy and Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad also spoke. 5. On the 1 st August, 2005: (i) Shri Pramod Mahajan raised a matter regarding heavy loss of life and property in Mumbai and other parts of Maharashtra due to incessant rains. (ii) Shrimati Sushma Swaraj raised a matter regarding recent incidents of terrorist acts in the country. (iii) Dr. K. Malaisamy raised a matter regarding execution of the Sethu Samudram Project in Tamil Nadu. (iv) Shri Digvijay Singh raised a matter regarding recent transfers of officials in the State of Bihar. Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad also spoke. 6. On the 2 nd August, 2005: (i) Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi raised a matter regarding reported theft of war plans from the War Room of Indian Navy. On the 3 rd August, 2005, Shri Motilal Vora raised a matter regarding law and order situation in the State of Chhattisgarh. 8. On the 5 th August, 2005, Shri Yashwant Sinha raised a matter regarding opposition to India s acquiring permanent seat in the UN Security Council by USA and China by opposing G-4 Resolution. Shri Nilotpal Basu, Shri Digvijay Singh and Shri Anand Sharma also spoke. 9. On the 16 th August, 2005: (i) Shri A.K. Antony raised a matter regarding recent Supreme Court judgement relating to reservations in Self financing Private Professional Educational Institutions in the country. the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs (ii) Shri S.S. Ahluwalia raised a matter regarding killing of an MLA and others by the Naxalites in the Mahboob Nagar district of Andhra Pradesh. 10. On the 22 nd August, 2005, Shri S.S. Ahluwalia raised a matter regarding award of death sentence to Shri Sarabjit Singh, by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, 11. On the 23 rd August, 2005:

4 (i) Shri Ravi Shankar Prasad raised a matter regarding certain remarks allegedly made by a Union Minister in an interview on a television channel. (ii) Prof. Saif-ud-Din Soz raised a matter regarding need to maintain and protect the Taj Mahal as a National Monument. 12. On the 25 th August, 2005, Shri Kalraj Mishra raised a matter regarding threat to the internal security of the country due to the reported presence of trained terrorists on the Indo-Bangladesh border. the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs, 13. On the 29 th August, 2005: (i) Shri Nand Kishore Yadav raised a matter regarding need to provide central financial assistance to the State of Uttar Pradesh on account of recent floods in that State. (ii) Shri Jairam Ramesh raised a matter regarding reported deaths due to the spread of Japanese encephalitis in the eastern part of the country. (iii) Shri Ajay Maroo raised a matter regarding reported arrest of the Chief Correspondent of the Chandigarh edition of the Indian Express by the Punjab Police. 14. On the 30 th August, 2005: (i) Dr. Murli Manohar Joshi raised a matter regarding need for a discussion before bringing into effect Foreign Direct Investment in the retail sector.

(iii) Shri Rudra Narayan Pany raised a matter regarding need for establishing National Institute of Science in Bhubaneshwar. (iv) Shri Raashid Alvi raised a matter regarding need to restore sanctity to the park built in the memory of freedom fighters of the 1942 freedom movement at the Mohammadabad Tehsil in Gazipur District of Uttar Pradesh.
